🐏 Stafford ties career high in rout of Jaguars
Matthew Stafford tied a career high with five TD passes as the Los Angeles Rams sauntered to a 35-7 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Without the injured Puka Nacua at his disposal, Stafford spread the ball around expertly.
The 37-year-old, whose back is holding up better than London Bridge, connected with 10 different receivers.
Four of his TD passes came in the red zone, all of which were within five yards of the end zone. Only four QBs handle pressure better than him through seven weeks (Sam Darnold, Drake Maye, Jalen Hurts, and Dak Prescott), which he displayed at Wembley Stadium, tossing all five TDs against the blitz.
NFL MVP odds favorite Mahomes and Mayfield are the only other QBs to throw five TD passes against a blitz in any game since 2016. Stafford was blitzed on a season-high 55.9% of his dropbacks.
🦅 Hurts soared against Vikings
Jalen Hurts flew up the clutch QB power rankings, moving from a share of 14th to a share of ninth, thanks to his best game of the season.
The Super Bowl MVP took the impetus and tossed the Philadelphia Eagles on his back, amassing 326 passing yards and three TD passes.
It wasn't just the impressive stats, but he also dashed any hopes of a Minnesota Vikings comeback countless times. Arguably, the most critical play of the game came on third-and-long late in the fourth quarter, where he came up, well, clutch.
The Eagles were able to ice the game after the 45-yard connection with A.J. Brown.
Not only did he deliver his best performance of the season, but it came at a time when his team needed it most. It ensured the Eagles avoided a three-game losing streak for the first time since 2023.
🐎 Nix mounted improbable comeback win over Giants
Bo Nix became the first quarterback to score two rushing and two passing TDs in a fourth quarter. That unprecedented accomplishment helped the Denver Broncos overturn a 19-0 deficit entering the fourth quarter. While the Broncos' defense had a massive part to play, Nix was influential in spearheading a remarkable 33-point fourth quarter.
Nix already has three fourth-quarter comebacks and game-winning drives through seven weeks, equaling his output from his rookie season.
When trailing, he has 11 TDs, no interceptions, and a 101.6 passer rating. With that historic comeback, Nix infiltrated the top 10 in the power rankings, moving up from 14th last week.
