🤠 Cowboys -5.5 (-110)
Neither of these teams have anything to play for in terms of postseason stakes, but the Commanders are in especially rough shape with their top two quarterbacks injured and their defense playing like one of the worst units in football. I don't love to lay points on bad teams, but you'd have to pay me to back Washington right now.

The Lions desperately need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, though that's been the case for weeks and it hasn't made much of a difference for this beleaguered group. I expect Minnesota's defense to frustrate Jared Goff enough to at least keep this one close.

Remember when the Broncos destroyed the Chiefs last year behind a backup quarterback in a game that didn't matter for Kansas City? Fast forward nearly 12 months and Denver is even better, K.C. is worse, and the stakes are as high as ever for the visitors. Regardless of who plays QB for the Chiefs, I'm on the Broncos.

Texans vs. Chargers odds

- Location: SoFi Stadium (Inglewood, Calif.)

🐂 Texans +1.5 (-115)
The Texans' offense is clearly an imperfect unit, but their defense is so staggeringly good that I'm surprised we're still catching points with Houston so regularly - especially against a team with such glaring offensive line woes like the Chargers. I fully expect the Texans to win outright.

🧀 Packers -2.5 (-105)
Two teams walk into a must-win spot in Week 17 with an injured quarterback and a defense falling apart at the seams. Fortunately for the Packers, backup QB Malik Willis looked incredible in relief last week for Green Bay, which is playing better football than Baltimore after last week's blown lead against the Patriots.

It's tough not to buy into the Patriots right now with Drake Maye playing at an MVP level, especially ahead of a matchup with an overmatched Jets defense that can't generate pressure or force turnovers. As long as Breece Hall doesn't go nuclear, New England should win comfortably.

🐬 Dolphins +5.5 (-110)
After a four-game win streak to potentially turn their season around, the Dolphins have lost two straight and turned to backup QB Quinn Ewers for the rest of the season. That still isn't enough for me to buy the Bucs, who are in a similar tailspin amid a three-game skid. I'll gladly take the points in this sad in-state duel.

🏗️ Steelers -4.5 (-108)
The Steelers haven't always looked the part en route to a likely AFC North title, but they continue to stack wins behind Aaron Rodgers' late-career heroics and a tenacious defense even with T.J. Watt sidelined. Pittsburgh can clinch the division with a win Sunday, and I don't expect the Browns' offense to have enough answers to keep this one close.

Even with the playoffs out of the picture, Joe Burrow and the Bengals' offense continue to put up incredible performances on a near-weekly basis to close out the regular season. The Cardinals look closer to true white-flag status, so I wouldn't be surprised if this one gets ugly by halftime.

⚜️ Saints -2.5 (-114)
The secret is out about these scrappy Saints in Year 1 for head coach Kellen Moore and quarterback Tyler Shough, but I still see value in laying the cheap price on the road against the Titans, who have feasted on some of the NFL's worst offenses for their only wins this year.

I'm shocked this line is still under a touchdown after the Jaguars' statement win over the top-seeded Broncos last week and the Colts still relying on a 44-year-old Philip Rivers under center. I'd bet this early in the week in case the line creeps past 7 and doesn't return.

🟢 Seahawks -7 (-110)
The Panthers have a tendency to strike when you least expect it, so tread cautiously when laying the big number, but Bryce Young also has a tendency to implode against tough defenses after impressive starts. This feels like a classic spot for Carolina to wilt offensively before a true do-or-die game next week in Tampa Bay.

Both of these teams have lost nine consecutive games entering Week 17, but the Raiders showed a little more life last week in a loss to the Texans, while the Giants finished with 13 net passing yards. I simply can't in good conscience lay points on the road with a team coming off such an abject disaster offensively.

Two of the NFL's most dangerous and flawed teams meet in Week 17 in a game that clearly holds more stakes for Buffalo than it does for Philadelphia. While the Eagles tend to play the best teams well, Josh Allen is rediscovering his MVP form down the stretch, which has me leaning toward the Bills early in the week.

🐻 Bears +2.5 (+102)
I believe in what I've seen from this Bears offense in its first year under Ben Johnson, especially with Caleb Williams taking care of the football and the run game profiling as the best in the league. The 49ers keep winning despite never feeling like an elite group on paper - I'm bet that luck runs short on Sunday Night Football.

- Location: Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta)

🐏 Rams -8 (-110)
The Rams lost the opportunity to control their own destiny with that bitter overtime loss last week to the Seahawks, but they still have a chance for the No. 1 seed if they take care of business the rest of the way. The Falcons have struggled all year against truly elite teams - this one should not be a fair fight.
