Packers vs. Lions Prediction & Opening Odds for Thanksgiving: NFL Week 13

It's turkey time as the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions get set for their Thanksgiving clash, and my Packers vs. Lions prediction expects the visitors to prevent Detroit from breaking it open.
Despite being one point behind in the standings, the Lions are the 3-point betting favorite. That's largely due to the matchup taking place at Ford Field in Detroit, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET on Thanksgiving (FOX). The analysis below is part of our Week 13 NFL predictions.

🧀 Packers +3 (-105) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
You have to go back to the first game of last season to source the last time the Packers lost by more than three points on the road. That's four successive road defeats by three points or fewer, which includes their 34-31 loss to the Lions at Ford Field last season.
All of Green Bay's losses this season were by three points.
Both teams have struggled recently, winning just two of the previous four. In Week 11, Detroit's offense endured a nightmare in Philadelphia against an Eagles defense that forced it to abandon the run, rendering play-action ineffective.
Goff finished with a 38% completion. It was even worse when he was pressured, completing just one of 13 passes. While the Packers aren't a blitz-heavy team, they have more than enough of a presence up front to make life difficult for Goff, who has endured all sorts of accuracy issues when put under pressure this season.
The Lions weren't convincing last week either, barely escaping a scare to overcome a late deficit against the two-win New York Giants in overtime.
The Packers, meanwhile, looked much more like the team that was among the Super Bowl odds favorites near the start of the season last week against the Minnesota Vikings. While I don't expect Green Bay to get to Goff as much as it did J.J. McCarthy, its top-10 defense should prevent the home side from gaining separation.
Green Bay's odds range from -105 to -120, with BetMGM providing the latter. A winning $10 bet will yield a $9.52 profit.

↔️ Packers vs. Lions line movement
At this early juncture, the best sports betting sites have reached a consensus: the Packers are 3-point betting underdogs.
Four of the five best sports betting apps' odds on the Packers range from -114 to -120, so there is a good chance the line will decrease to +2.5. If you're backing the Packers, lock in the wager immediately. However, if you're backing the Lions, I recommend waiting to take them at +2.5.
