My NFL live betting guide for Week 2, part of our NFL picks, features the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs, Sunday Night Football, and both MNF encounters.

The weekly guide provides in-play insights, offering guidance on situational occurrences, developing trends, and player props. It can also complement the advice our team offers in the NFL predictions for Week 2.

📺 Eagles vs. Chiefs live betting strategy

  • Date: Sunday, Sept. 14
  • Kickoff: 4:25 p.m. ET
  • Location: GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium (Kansas City, Mo.)
  • How to watch: FOX

Chiefs situational live betting recommendations:

  • If the Chiefs fall behind by a score, even 10 points, consider backing them (spread or moneyline). Mahomes is 58-13 on home field and orchestrated seven fourth-quarter comebacks last season, tied for the second-most all time. That's one of the principal reasons he was last season's most clutch QB

Eagles situational live betting recommendations

  • The Chiefs allowed three passing TDs last week against the Chargers in Brazil, tied for the second-most. Meanwhile, all three Philadelphia Eagles' TDs came on the ground. Look to find value in Jalen Hurts flipping the script and going aerial into the end zone. The longer it takes for Hurts to throw a passing TD, the more value you'll receive
  • Conversely, Hurts has seven rushing TDs in his last four games, including one against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. While his two rushing TDs came early in Week 1, there is value in waiting, as he scored 10 of 14 in the second half last season
  • The Eagles were 11-1 last season when forcing one or more turnovers. If they snag an interception or recover a fumble, you might want to back them, depending on the score, of course

Live betting trends:

  • The Chiefs were successful on 58.8% of rush attempts last week, fourth-best, and the Eagles allowed a success rate of 59.1% on rush attempts last week (third-worst)
  • The Eagles were successful on 56.5% of pass attempts last week (fifth-best). The Chiefs allowed a success rate of 61.8% on pass attempts last week (third-worst)

Live betting, in-game reads:

  • It's critical to make some plays with conviction as soon as you see a trend develop. For example, it was clear from kickoff that the Dallas Cowboys couldn't get any pressure on Hurts. Even before the Eagles' first offensive series had ended, it was clear he would have a productive outing with his legs. Back the Over on his rushing yards before the value seeps away.
  • If you backed the Under before the Cowboys vs. Eagles game and felt confident, consider doubling down, even if the game doesn't start as planned. A touchdown was scored on the first four possessions in the Eagles' Week 1 game. Had you played the in-game Under after two possessions, the value would have been enormous

📺 Falcons vs. Vikings live betting strategy: SNF

  • Date: Sunday, Sept. 14
  • Kickoff: 8:20 p.m. ET
  • Location: U.S. Bank Stadium (Minneapolis, Minn.)
  • How to watch: NBC

Our Dustin Saracini covers this contest in his best prime-time bets, but first, check out some live-betting insight.

Momentum-based in-game betting:

  • The Chicago Bears were afflicted by a team-of-two-halves syndrome in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings. As soon as the J.J. McCarthy-led Vikings scored a TD to cut the deficit to 17-12, my gut - and the on-field momentum swing - intimated a comeback was on the cards. The Bears opened the second half with two punts and a missed field goal, and despite their defense scoring a pick-six, the offense was hapless. If you see a momentum shift with that undeniable force, act

Falcons situational live betting recommendations:

  • The Vikings had the most success in Week 1 when Brian Flores brought the heat. That about sums up their defensive strategy from last season. He's likely to employ more of the same against the inexperienced Michael Penix Jr. Get a quick feel for how the green quarterback deals with pressure packages behind an injury-riddled O-line, and act decisively
  • There are a few potential outcomes to keep your eye on. In four career starts, Penix hasn't rushed for more than 21 yards. So, I don't see him scrambling a ton. Also, Penix received an overall under-pressure grade of 50 out of 100 from PFF for his three starts last season. If he struggles to cope with the early pressure, look for value plays, such as sack Overs and Penix's passing-yards Under

Vikings situational live betting recommendation:

  • Justin Jefferson's receiving yards total is set at 72.5 yards, with -114 odds at FanDuel for the Over. He didn't go under that number in nine home games last season. While he had only 44 yards in Chicago, you could see the chemistry between him and McCarthy build in the second half. See how the first couple of series go, and make a call. My hunch is there could be excellent value on the in-game Over

📺 Buccaneers vs. Texans live betting strategy: MNF

  • Date: Monday, Sept. 15
  • Kickoff: 7 p.m. ET
  • Location: NRG Stadium (Houston)
  • How to watch: ABC/ESPN

Defense, defense, defense. Our Gabe Henderson explores why he's backing the Under, along with some other NFL betting trends that matter.

Buccaneers situational live betting recommendations:

  • Baker Mayfield hit the TD passes Over in 12 of his last 15 games. While he faces a formidable defense, Mayfield has proven time and again he is money in the air. Four of his last five TD passes came when the Buccaneers trailed, with the other when the game was tied. If the Buccaneers are trailing, look to capitalize on his TD passing prop
  • On a similar front, consider backing the Buccaneers if they are down entering the fourth quarter. Mayfield spearheaded the Bucs' late-game comeback against the Falcons, making him one of the most clutch QBs from Week 1

Texans situational live betting recommendations:

  • The Texans have struggled offensively for a while now, and it doesn't help that running back Joe Mixon won't feature. There should be value in backing Ka’imi Fairbairn in the live drive props or next score props. He hit the field goals Over in 12 of his last 14 games

📺 Chargers vs. Raiders live betting strategy: MNF

  • Date: Monday, Sept. 15
  • Kickoff: 10 p.m. ET
  • Location: Allegiant Stadium (Las Vegas)
  • How to watch: ESPN

I was charged up by how Los Angeles played in its opener against Kansas City, which I discussed in my picks against the spread for Week 2, and there are some in-game plays to be on the lookout for:

Chargers situational live betting recommendations:

  • Wide receiver Ladd McConkey hit the Over on his receiving yards total in nine of the last 11 games and had 95 yards in Las Vegas last season. If the Chargers have some success with the run game early, pounce on the McConkey Over
  • QB Justin Herbert had a field day with the Raiders in Las Vegas in Week 18 last season, tossing for 346 yards and two TDs. If he starts hot, get in on an alternative yards Over

Raiders situational live betting recommendations:

  • The Raiders were outstanding in the second half in New England, outscoring the Patriots 13-3. Keep that in mind if the game is close at halftime
  • Tight end Brock Bowers averaged just 54 receiving yards in his two games against the Chargers last season. He also took a knock in Week 1. If he doesn't look sharp early, consider backing the Under, depending on the total and its value
  • The Over hit in five of the Raiders' last six home games against the Chargers, four of which since the team relocated to Las Vegas

💡 NFL live betting strategy

Live betting is all about getting a feel for the game as you watch. Trust your gut and the on-field play, and make the call before the value seeps away. Alternative totals are an excellent way to optimize profits. If you see something develop, trust yourself and commit.

Don't overcommit, though. Sometimes, patience is the name of the game.
