The majority of NFL teams have already entered the off-season and are formulating plans for next season. One of those teams is the Arizona Cardinals, who must decide on what to do with quarterback Kyler Murray. Murray looks to be a prime trade candidate for the Cardinals, who recently fired head coach Jonathan Gannon. Teams that could be interested in making a trade for Murray include the New York Jets, the Las Vegas Raiders, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Below, we will look at all of the latest NFL news and rumors surrounding Murray and his potential suitors.
Kyler Murray New York Jets NFL trade rumors
MetLife Stadium has become “Second Chance Island” for NFL quarterbacks. The Jets have had Aaron Rodgers and Justin Fields under center the past few years, and now they may be turning their attention to Murray.
ESPN’s Aaron Schatz is predicting that the Jets will trade for Murray this offseason.
“The Jets will trade for Kyler Murray and give him his second chance in the NFL," Schatz wrote earlier this month. "Murray is a bad fit for teams that want to run a lot of under-center offense, but the Jets ran the eighth-most shotgun or pistol sets through Week 17 in 2025. A trade for Murray’s big contract would likely cost very little in draft capital.”
The Jets currently own the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft. Many mock drafts have them set to take Oregon QB Dante Moore with that pick.
But, if the Jets aren’t in love with Moore (or if Moore decides to stay in college), they could trade out of that slot and gain even more Draft capital than they already have (which is a lot). By most accounts, the 2027 NFL Draft class will have more top-shelf QB options, including Texas’ Arch Manning.
Having Murray under center for one year could bridge the gap.
Kyler Murray Las Vegas Raiders NFL trade rumors
The Raiders have plenty of cap space to absorb Murray’s hefty contract. Las Vegas is projected to have around $116.5 million in cap space this spring.
FOX Sports Eric Williams wrote on Jan. 1 that a league source told him that the Raiders trading for Murray could “make sense."
Murray to the Raiders will certainly pick up steam if Las Vegas were to end up hiring Kliff Kingsbury as head coach or offensive coordinator. Murray saw his greatest NFL success under Kingsbury’s watch.
Of note, Kingsbury briefly played with Raiders part-owner Tom Brady, who is leading Las Vegas’ head coach search.
Kyler Murray Indianapolis Colts NFL trade rumors
A potential match of Murray and the Colts depends on how long Indy expects Daniel Jones to be out for. Jones tore his Achilles in Week 14 of the season. A torn Achilles is one of the most difficult injuries to recover from, and there is certainly no guarantee that Jones will be ready to come back in Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season.
Colts head coach Shane Steichen worked wonders for Jones this season. Jones looked like he was destined for the unemployment line around this time last year, before Steichen resurrected his career and made him into an MVP candidate.
Perhaps Steichen could do the same for Murray, who has had a similar career trajectory as Jones.
Kyler Murray Pittsburgh Steelers trade rumors
The Steelers are likely to once again be in the quarterback market this spring, with Aaron Rodgers likely to retire.
A ton is up in the air right now with the Steelers, after being eliminated by the Houston Texans on Monday night.
The Steelers’ decision on who the quarterback will be in 2026-27 will be directly attached to what the coaching staff looks like. There is no guarantee that head coach Mike Tomlin and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith will return.
If the aforementioned Kingsbury were to wind up in Pittsburgh as either head coach or offensive coordinator, then Murray immediately becomes a top option.
NFL betting
The best NFL betting sites currently have "next head coach" betting markets available. Once we get into the peak of the NFL off-season during late February, March, and April, we will surely see "next team" odds on players like Murray.
Until then, there are plenty of games and awards to bet on. Super Bowl odds are currently available, as are Super Bowl MVP odds. Super Bowl props will also become available in the coming days.
