Well, well, well, the ageless wonder has returned. We're rolling out our best Philip Rivers player props now that the 44-year-old quarterback has gone from the couch back into the Colts’ quarterback room and is reportedly on track to start for Indianapolis in Week 15.
In a move that seemingly happened overnight, the Colts reached out to Rivers - who had been using the Indianapolis offense for his son's high school football team - to gauge his interest in a return following Daniel Jones' Achilles tear. Once backup quarterback Riley Leonard went down, the wheels were in motion, and Rivers found himself behind the Colts' podium at a press conference for the first time since the 2020 COVID season.
Yes, he's got jokes, but you better believe the Colts are serious about this move - Rivers is tasked with saving a season that started out 7-1 before the team crashed back down to Earth, losing four of their last five games. Indianapolis is now 8-5 and currently in third place in the AFC South. Rivers gets his "welcome back to the NFL moment" against a tough 10-3 Seattle Seahawks team, who's coming into Week 15 favored by 13.5 points. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET on Dec. 14.
Here's a quick glance at what FanDuel is offering when it comes to Philip Rivers player props, and how I'm playing them.
Philip Rivers player props: Week 15
| Prop bet | Betting line | Over odds | Under odds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Passing yards | 150.5 | -114 | -114 |
| Passing completions | 16.5 | -120 | -110 |
| Passing attempts | 27.5 | +102 | -132 |
| Interceptions | 0.5 | -156 | +120 |
Rest assured, we will be seeing a ton of Jonathan Taylor in this game. I have a hard time taking any of these Overs, knowing one big hit could ultimately knock Rivers out of the game. I also have a ton of confidence in his passing yards Under prop bet due to the fact that, well, it looks like he's lost some zip on his fastball - and that's putting it lightly.
Don't overthink this one. At the end of the day, it's a cool story, but he's been removed from NFL football for four years, is 44 years old, and is going up against one of the best defenses in the NFL. Seattle will overwhelm him early, and this nice story will be closed pretty quickly. Flip the script here and ride Taylor as far as you can go.
As Rivers put it this week: “Shoot, we’re gonna run the crap out of the ball and go from there. We’ll see what I can do but I’m not here to be the savior.”
Prediction: Philip Rivers Under 150.5 passing yards (-114 via FanDuel)
