| Team | Fired coach | 2025 record | Top candidate |

| Miami Dolphins | Mike McDaniel | 7-10 | John Harbaugh (55%) |
| Baltimore Ravens | John Harbaugh | 8-9 | Jesse Minter (31%) |
| Arizona Cardinals | Jonathan Gannon | 3-14 | Vance Joseph (17%) |
| Las Vegas Raiders | Pete Carroll | 3-14 | Brian Flores (36%) |
| Cleveland Browns | Kevin Stefanski | 5-12 | Jim Schwartz (18%) |
| Atlanta Falcons | Raheem Morris | 8-9 | Klint Kubiak (24%) |
| New York Giants | Brian Daboll | 2-8* | Kevin Stefanski (39%) |
| Tennessee Titans | Brian Callahan | 1-5* | Matt Nagy (41%) |
After two head coaches were fired during the regular season (Brian Callahan and Brian Daboll), we have seen six more lose their jobs over the last few days - including four in the first 24 hours and two more surprising moves along the way.
The latest came Thursday when the Miami Dolphins fired Mike McDaniel after a 7-10 record last year and a 35-33 mark in his four seasons as a head coach. The timing is curious with the Baltimore Ravens firing John Harbaugh on Tuesday, a move that has already sent ripple effects throughout the entire NFL coaching carousel.
Raheem Morris was the first coach handed the pink slip in the immediate hours after the Atlanta Falcons' win on Sunday, and while it conflicted with earlier reporting that he'd return in 2026, it's hardly a surprise after three straight seasons with a losing record. Then came the firings of Kevin Stefanski and Pete Carroll, who were both among the favorites for which NFL head coaches will be fired entering Black Monday.
The Arizona Cardinals also dumped Jonathan Gannon after a 3-14 campaign before the more surprising moves with Harbaugh and McDaniel losing their jobs. That brings us to eight openings after the first few days of the offseason for the 18 teams that missed the playoffs, and we could see even more openings following the NFL Wild Card Round.

đŦ Next Dolphins head coach odds, rumors, candidates
It's not exactly a surprise that owner Stephen Ross would move on from McDaniels after four seasons - the longest stint for any Dolphins head coach in over two decades - but it's the timing of the move that took many by surprise.
It's easy to read between the lines on Thursday's move being the only head coach firing since the Ravens let Harbaugh go on Tuesday. And, sure enough, the former Super Bowl-winning coach is the runaway favorite to take the Miami job with a 53% chance according to the prediction markets as of this writing.
I can see the appeal from the Dolphins' perspective and understand the tea leaves of the timeline, but I'm less convinced that Harbaugh would want to end up in Miami given the dysfunctional ownership and uncertain plans at quarterback for the long term. I'd be looking further down the board for a first-time head coach like Jeff Hafley (9%) or Klint Kubiak (10%).
đĻââŦ Next Ravens head coach odds, rumors, candidates
The most shocking move of the 2026 NFL coaching carousel came Tuesday when the Ravens parted ways with Harbaugh, who won 180 games over 18 seasons in Baltimore including one of two Super Bowl victories in franchise history.
The Ravens have requested interviews with Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores (19%) and Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver (16%) - a former Ravens assistant - and Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klink Kubiak (9%), and they completed one with Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph (2%).
Yet my money is on Jesse Minter, the current favorite with a 31% chance to take the Ravens job. The Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator is currently preparing for the wild-card round and likely won't conduct interviews until next week, the former Baltimore assistant is a perfect fit for the job, as I break down in my Ravens next head coach predictions.
đĩ Next Cardinals head coach odds, rumors, candidates
The final firing on Black Monday came in Arizona, where the Cardinals parted ways with Jonathan Gannon after three uninspiring seasons as head coach for the former Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator.
Arizona has requested to interview at least five different coordinators for their open head coaching role, including the current favorite Joseph (17%) along with Kubiak (9%), Weaver, and San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh (6%). Meanwhile, former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy (12%) sits in second by the latest odds ahead of Flores (12%) with a drop-off after that.
It's hard to know what direction this market might go, in part because the Cardinals' job is one of the least attractive roles on the open market, so it will likely depend on what some of the top candidates decide. Kubiak was the clear front-runner when this market opened, so he feels like the best value on the board at present.
đ´ââ ī¸ Next Raiders head coach odds, rumors, candidates
One season was all it took for the Raiders to move on from Pete Carroll, and the prediction market has already locked in on a clear candidate to replace him in Las Vegas.
Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores - who previously served as head coach for the Miami Dolphins before leading one of the NFL's best defenses up north - opened the front-runner for the role given his stellar job with the Vikings and his existing relationship with minority owner Tom Brady. He was trading as high as 53% after Carroll's dismissal on Monday but has settled in around 33% as the market waits for the first domino.
Keep an eye on other defensive play-callers like Saleh (5%), Joseph (4%) or Minter (2%), who could serve as an alternative to Flores in the same mold of modern defensive genius. Our Andrew Reid breaks down this market further with his Raiders next head coach predictions.
đ¤ Next Browns head coach odds, rumors, candidates
While the Browns firing Stefanski was perhaps the least surprising move of Black Monday, it remains a mystery whom Cleveland will target to replace him - in part because the post is arguably the least desirable of any open spot in this year's coaching cycle.
The early favorite for this role was former Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury (7%), who has since fallen abck in the pack with current Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz (18%) trading as the favorite. That feels like the most stable hire for the franchise - though owner Jimmy Haslam doesn't have a penchant for making the safe move.
If you're looking for a long shot, I'd keep my eyes on Tommy Rees (4%), the former Notre Dame quarterback and current offensive coordinator who has earned a positive reputation within the locker room despite the team's offensive woes. It feels like a matter of time before the 33-year-old gets a shot as a head coach - could now be the time?

đĒļ Next Falcons head coach odds, rumors, candidates
Not including the two in-season firings, the Falcons were the first to make a move this offseason after firing Morris in the immediate wake of Atlanta's season-ending win over the New Orleans Saints to secure a second straight 8-9 record. Early reports suggest owner Arthur Blank has already identified the Falcons' next head coach with former QB Matt Ryan likely assuming a key role in the organization and with this hiring process.
The latest odds suggest that candidate could be Kubiak (24%), a favorite for multiple jobs in this hiring cycle after impressive stints as the offensive coordinator for the Seahawks (2025) and Saints (2024). The Falcons have already requested to interview the Seattle assistant, whose team is on a bye week for the first round of the playoffs.
Atlanta has also requested to interview Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, though he isn't listed as an option in the latest prediction markets. Keep an eye on his name in this cycle along with North Carolina coach Bill Belichick (3%), who was a leading candidate for this job two years ago before Morris was hired.
We break down this market further in his Falcons next head coach predictions with a focus on Stefanski and Kubiak, among others.
đŊ Next Giants head coach odds, rumors, candidates
The Giants made the move in November to fire Brian Daboll, whose tenure had long worn its welcome amid a 20-40-1 run in New York. With two months to assess the market and put out feelers for candidates, it's still a wide-open race for the open role.
Stefanski, who was just fired by the Browns, is the current favorite in the prediction markets with a 32% chance to take the job, followed by Harbaugh (32%) - the runaway favorite with a nearly 60% chance on Wednesday night before the Dolphins' job opened up. Both coaches have won Coach of the Year honors, as Daboll did with the Giants, while Harbaugh would bring experience as a Super Bowl champion to New York.
If head coaching experience isn't a prerequisite, Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley (3%) feels like a strong pick to get the nod. He helped overhaul the Packers' defense into a top-flight unit after leaving the head coaching role at Boston College, and he has ties to the greater Tri-State area.
Our Dustin Saracini breaks down the top candidates for this role with his Giants next head coach predictions with a focus on Stefanski and a long shot.
âī¸ Next Titans head coach odds, rumors, candidates
It's been almost three months since the Titans let go of Brian Callahan just six games into his second season as an NFL head coach, and two clear candidates have emerged as the likeliest choices to replace him in Tennessee.
Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, who previously spent four years as the Chicago Bears head coach, is the clear front-runner with a 41% chance to take over in Nashville according to the latest prediction market odds. He's followed by Stefanski, (27%), who overtook McCarthy as the second choice in this market followed by former Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith (16%).
If you're looking to buy a dark-horse candidate, Joe Brady (5%) has been rumored as a head-coaching candidate for multiple cycles now given his work with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills offense. That experience could prove attractive for Titans ownership as they look for the best way to maximize Cam Ward's growth during his rookie contract.
