The Giants (9-7-1) finished the season 3-6-1 after winning six of their first seven games. New York ended the regular season with their ninth consecutive road loss against the Philadelphia Eagles, though the team rested most of its starters after clinching its first playoff berth since 2016.

Minnesota (13-4) was the only team to finish more than two games over .500 with a negative point differential (-3).

Giants vs. Vikings Odds

Giants vs. Vikings Odds Analysis

Minnesota opened as a 3-point home favorite and is still -3 across most sportsbooks. However, the line has seen time on each side of the key number this week. New York went as high as +3.5 at FanDuel, Caesars, and Wynn earlier this week and is now as low as +2.5 at BetMGM. Currently, 51% of the point-spread bets are on the Vikings.

The Over/Under opened at 47.5, and most sportsbooks are currently at 48. PointsBet is at 48.5, while FanDuel has come back down to 47.5. There is solid two-way action on the total, with 50% of the action on the Under and 50% on the Over.

Giants vs. Vikings Pick

Giants +3.5 vs. Vikings (-128 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

This is a matchup of the league’s best against the spread team (Giants are 13-4 ATS) against the team that cashes Overs at the highest rate (Vikings 13-4 O/U). Thus, it's only fitting that we decided between one of these bets, but we decided to buy the hook and back New York while laying a little extra juice.

The fact that the Giants were competitive in their first matchup despite allowing Vikings pass-catchers Justin Jefferson and T.J. Hockenson to combine for a 25/242/3 stat line is encouraging, especially since they are healthier on defense now. After missing the first meeting, Giants safety Xavier McKinney (hand) and corner Adoree’ Jackson (knee) are both expected to play. That allows the Giants to throw different looks at Minnesota’s top two pass catchers that they would not have seen in the first matchup.

Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has had three games this season with two-plus passing touchdowns and zero interceptions after having zero such games in the previous two seasons. His 334-yard effort against Minnesota was one of two games where he threw for more than 300 yards this year. His resurgence under head coach Brian Daboll is a big reason the Giants had a top-10 offense by EPA/play in games he started. Conversely, Minnesota ranks 19th in that metric and the bottom five in Rush EPA.

One has to respect that the Vikings’ last loss as a favorite came back on Dec. 5 of last season. However, this is a three-star play despite Minnesota’s 11-0 record in one-score games (an NFL record), as that historic feat is mitigated by the fact that New York had the second-best record in such games (8-4-1).

FanDuel is the best sportsbook for Giants backers, as it's charging -114 to back the underdogs. Buying the extra half-point increases that juice to -136, but it's still cheaper than the price one would pay elsewhere. In addition, the half-point could mean the difference between a push and a win, as the Vikings won four games by three or fewer points.
