The New York Giants are not the envy of many teams in the NFL, but there is one place they might be leading the way: John Harbaugh is the top candidate to become their next head coach. My next Giants head coach predictions based on the best odds from prediction markets think he could be the man.

The painful 2025 campaign is officially over for the Giants, which included firing fourth-year head coach Brian Daboll. Interim head coach Mike Kafka led New York to a 2-5 record this season, not exactly the kind of performance that would result in management giving someone the full-time gig.

Note: As of Wednesday morning Harbaugh is the favorite at 55%. Widgets may be behind actual pricing found on Kalshi.com.

Immediately after getting fired by the Browns, which you can find more detail on in our NFL head coaches tracker, Stefanski became the favorite to become the next head coach of the New York Giants with a market-leading 42% chance. Immediately after John Harbaugh was fired by the Ravens, his stock plummeted and is now at 16%.

John Harbaugh's dismissal by the Ravens shot him to the top of the odds, sitting at 55% as of Wednesday morning.

🏈 Will John Harbaugh be head coach of the Giants?

The shine of New York lights is bright. Songs are written about it, dreams are made about it. And now, John Harbaugh can become the boss of one of its football teams (even if the team plays in New Jersey).

While it's been a rough few years for the G-Men, we saw some things to be plenty excited about last year: quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cam Skattebo.

While Harbaugh's career has been mostly on the defensive and special teams side of the ball, maybe that's exactly what this team needs. You can install an OC to guide the electric offense and put his specialty to work in fixing the defense. His Baltimore teams routinely had ferocious defenses, and he has plenty of experience handling a mobile QB and electric RB.

Also, his head coaching resume - 18 years at the helm of the Ravens, with a Super Bowl ring - is something any team would fawn over.

🔮 Giants next head coach long shot

The Giants might look for an offensive mind who can lead their young and dynamic offense, captained by Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo, so it makes perfect sense that rumors would be swirling around a Stefanski-Giants marriage.

Stefanski rose through the NFL coaching ladder on the offensive side of the ball, spending more than a decade with the Minnesota Vikings from 2006 to 2019. He stepped into the interim offensive coordinator role in 2018 before taking over the job full-time in 2019, which ultimately paved the way for his first head-coaching opportunity with the Cleveland Browns in 2020. Stefanski ended his time with a 45-56 record, but it wasn't all doom and gloom for a coach who ultimately never had the roster or talent to win more than one playoff game during his tenure. Stefanski won two Coach of the Year awards in 2020 and 2023, and should ultimately land in New York when the dust settles.

He was the favorite until Harbaugh's name became available. He could take that spot again should Harbaugh sign elsewhere to decide on a year away.

❓ How do you trade on prediction markets?

Think of prediction markets like the stock market, but for real-world outcomes. You sign up, add some funds, pick an event (anything from politics to weather to sports to entertainment), and then decide whether you’re riding with “Yes” or fading it with “No.”

Prices bounce around $0.01 and $0.99 based on what everyone else believes, and once the event wraps up, contracts settle at either $1 or $0. You’re not betting against the house - you’re trading against other users and cashing in if your prediction hits.
