Garrett Wilson is one of the top receivers in the NFL, when healthy. Unfortunately for Wilson and Jets fans, "when healthy" has become a major caveat. Below, we will dish out a Wilson injury update and look at when he will return. We will also take a glance at Jets betting odds.

⏳ When will Garrett Wilson return and be back for Jets?

Wilson was eligible to return in Week 15 against the Jaguars, but the Jets kept putting off the WR's return. With New York having been out of playoff contention for two months, Wilson and the team decided on Dec. 19 that the best course of action was to shut it down for the season.

"[Wilson] is doing really, really well as far as his rehab," Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said. "We just want to be smart with him because he's a key cog in what we're doing here. To be able to get him back in the offseason program, fully healthy - ready to go - we feel like that was the best decision for all of us."

Wilson was initially expected to miss just 3-4 weeks with what is believed to be a knee sprain, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini in early November.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn took aim at Cimini regarding the reporter's initial information about Wilson’s injury.

“I’m going to pass on talking about injuries, since Rich - oh, he’s not here - has all the answers,” Glenn said at the time. "So, you guys can get all the injury [news] from Rich.”

The Jets placed Wilson on IR on Nov. 13.

Mild knee sprains typically take around 3-4 weeks to recover from, which was consistent with Cimini’s initial report.

❓ Is Garrett Wilson out for the season?

The Jets had lost four of five games without Wilson and were sitting with a 3-11 record when the decision to shut him down was made. There was no incentive to bring Wilson back this season, given that the team will once again miss the playoffs.

Wilson should be fully ready for Jets mini-camp in the spring and training camp in July. Had the Jets actually been in contention for the final few weeks of this season, it is almost certain that Wilson would have suited up given that this is not a longterm injury.

✈️ Jets betting odds

The Jets have long been out of championship contention, as they do not appear on Super Bowl odds boards. NFL Playoff odds also do not have the Jets on the board.

One betting market Jets fans will surely have their eyes on moving forward, though, is the NFL draft. Fernando Mendoza (-425) is currently the favorite to be draft No. 1 overall at the best NFL betting sites. Other top picks are expected to be Dante Moore and Rueben Bain Jr..
