We're a few days into free agency, and you're not alone if your head is spinning after a frantic feeding frenzy that has seen the landscape of the NFL shift.
I'm exploring the biggest winners and losers of free agency thus far among the Super Bowl odds favorites, with the majority at the top of the totem pole making a seismic splash. A few are slower out of the gate, though, either content with their current setup or opting for a slow-and-steady approach.

🥂 Super Bowl odds favorites: Free agency winners
Follow along with our NFL picks throughout the regular season and playoffs.
🐏 Rams (+850)
The Rams are all in on winning the Lombardi Trophy this season before it's too late for franchise QB Matthew Stafford. They vastly improved their secondary, the one area that prevented them from winning the Super Bowl last season.
Not only did they acquire one of the best cornerbacks in the league in Trent McDuffie, but they also got their hands on Jaylen Watson, who won back-to-back Super Bowls with McDuffie in Kansas City and was part of the same 2022 draft class.
🐏 Rams are yet to lose any key players
Unlike their rivals, the Rams haven't experienced any notable departures. While that will invariably happen, they've thus far remained largely intact.
Rams' key additions:
| Player | Position | Contract |
|---|---|---|
| Trent McDuffie | CB | 4-year, $124 million |
| Jaylen Watson | CB | 3-year, $51 million |
General manager Les Snead also retained safety Kam Curl on a three-year, $36 million deal. The Rams ranked fourth in defense via DVOA last season, even before their latest marquee signings in the secondary.
🐦⬛ Ravens (+1200)
Jackpot; winner, winner, chicken dinner; bingo!; Eureka.
Bellow aloud your favorite descriptive word, and that will aptly fit the Ravens' unplanned, yet fortuitous circumstances. Due to the Maxx Crosby debacle, the Ravens were able to land edge rusher Trey Hendrickson while also retaining their two first-round picks.
Like I said, woohoo!
There was some bad news amidst the euphoria, with the Ravens losing Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum to the Las Vegas Raiders and tight end Isaiah Likely to the New York Jets.
Ravens' departures:
- S Alohi Gilman (Chiefs)
- S Ar'Darius Washington (Giants)
- TE Charlie Kolar (Chargers)
- TE Isaiah Likely (Giants)
- LB Jake Hummel (Texans)
- P Jordan Stout (Giants)
- RB Keaton Mitchell (Chargers)
- FB Patrick Ricard (Giants)
- C Tyler Linderbaum (Raiders)
- DE Dre'Mont Jones (Patriots)
Ravens' key additions:
| Player | Position | Contract |
|---|---|---|
| Trey Hendrickson | DE | 4-year, $112 million |
| Jaylinn Hawkins | S | 2-year, $10 million |
| John Simpson | G | 3-year, $30 million |
Ravens GM Eric DeCosta also kept ahold of QB Tyler Huntley (2-year, $5 million) and CB Chidobe Awuzie.
🦬 Bills (+1000)
The Bills, who traded for DJ Moore, finally landed their No. 1 receiver. While there are some negatives to securing the 29-year-old's signature, the positives far outweigh them, at least in the short term. The most notable of which is the downfield threat he will provide:
- The Bills' receiving corps caught 17 passes of 20+ yards last season, including the playoffs, while Moore amassed 10.
- Moore is one of five receivers with at least 50 20+ catches in the last five years. The others are: CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Justin Jefferson, and Tyreek Hill.
Moore is the headlining acquisition, but he's not the only addition. They also signed pass rusher Bradley Chubb, who had 8.5 sacks last season in 17 games with the Miami Dolphins, and safety C.J. Gardner.
Bills' departures:
- QB Mitch Trubisky (Titans)
- FB Reggie Gilliam (Patriots)
- LG David Edwards (Saints)
- DB Cam Lewis (Bears)
- S Darnell Savage Jr. (Steelers)
Bills' key additions:
| Player | Position | Contract |
|---|---|---|
| DJ Moore | WR | Moore is scheduled to earn $24.5 million in each season from 2026 through 2029 |
| Bradley Chubb | OLB | $29 million guaranteed over three years |
| Dee Alford | CB | 3-year, $21 million |
| C.J. Gardner | S | 1-year, $6 million |
General manager Brandon Beane also retained center Connor McGovern, who signed a four-year, $52 million contract extension.
👎️ Why do some believe the Bills are free agency losers?
- Moore is 29 years old, seen as the age most receivers start their decline, and the Bills had to give up a second-round draft pick
- Chubb played more than 14 games just five times in 10 seasons
- The Bills have a lack of depth at linebacker and will likely need to strengthen
- They haven't replaced the losses of OG David Edwards and FB Reggie Gilliam
🔴 Chiefs (+1600)
Patrick Mahomes was forced to scamper more last season than a squirrel running from a predator. I'm not saying it was the cause of his ACL injury, but it certainly didn't help.
So, the Chiefs went out and landed last season's Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, who will ensure Mahomes stays behind the line of scrimmage more often than not. That's especially important given the significance of Mahomes' season-ending injury.
Despite losing McDuffie to the Rams, the move to acquire Walker improved their Super Bowl odds. Considering they had no ground game to speak of last season, you can see why.
Chiefs' departures:
- RB Isiah Pacheco (Lions)
- CB Jaylen Watson (Rams)
- S Bryan Cook (Bengals)
- LB Leo Chenal (Commanders)
- DE Charles Omenihu (Commanders)
Chiefs' key additions:
| Player | Position | Contract |
|---|---|---|
| Kenneth Walker III | RB | 3-year, $43.05 million |
| Alohi Gilman | S | 3-year, $24.75 million |
| Khyiris Tong | DT | 3-year, $21 million |
| Kader Kohou | CB | 1 year |
Travis Kelce will be back for at least one year after he signed a $12 million deal, while wide receiver Tyquan Thornton will return on a 2-year, $11 million deal.
⛏️ 49ers (+1800)
Mike Evans is receiving all the headlines for good reason. The 49ers will be measurably better on offense with the master of the 1,000-yard seasons on the payroll.
49ers' departures:
- DL Robert Beal Jr. (Dolphins)
- WR Kendrick Bourne (Cardinals)
- DL Jordan Elliott (Titans)
💡 Is Mike Evans a good signing for the 49ers?
- Evans has been one of the most consistent receivers in NFL history. However, he is 32 years old (turning 33 before the season starts) and suffered two serious injuries simultaneously last season, which splashes a Bay Area-size shadow over the team's headlining acquisition
49ers' key additions:
| Player | Position | Contract |
|---|---|---|
| Mike Evans | WR | 3-year, $60.4 million |
| Vederian Lowe | OT | 2-year, $12 million |
| Eddy Pineiro | K | 3-year, $21 million |
The 49ers also retained the services of LB Dre Greenlaw (1-year, $7.5 million), TE Jake Tonges (2-year, $8 million), and kicker Eddy Pineiro (4 years).
💰 Free agency winners: Best Super Bowl bet
Although it's early, the Rams are making all the right moves. They addressed their Achilles heel with urgency, signing two excellent, Super Bowl-winning cornerbacks who have more chemistry than a high school science teacher.
Super Bowl 61 will take place in their backyard at SoFi Stadium, and they have the reigning MVP and MVP odds contender returning for what will be a storybook ending, backed up by arguably the league's best receiver (Puka Nacua) and most formidable offense.
Best Super Bowl bet: Rams (+850)
👎 Super Bowl odds favorites: Free agency losers
There are three losers on the Super Bowl odds favorites list, including the defending champs, the Detroit Lions, and the Philadelphia Eagles, all of whom have a lot of work to do to catch up to their main foes.
🟢 Seahawks (+900)
Now matter how you slice it, the Seahawks are losers in the short term.
That sounds like an oxymoron given they won the Super Bowl a few months ago. But you can't be considered a winner in the immediate aftermath of losing the Super Bowl MVP, regardless of potential solutions.
Seahawks' departures:
- S Coby Bryant (Bears)
- LB Boyle Mafe (Bengals)
- Walker (Chiefs)
- CB Riq Woolen
Seahawks' key additions:
| Player | Position | Contract |
|---|---|---|
| Emanuel Wilson | RB | 1-year, $2.1 million |
The Seahawks retained CB Josh Jobe (3-year, $24 million), T Josh Jones (1-year, $4 million), WR Rashid Shaheed (3-year, $51 million), LS Chris Stroll, FB Brady Russell (3-year, $21 million), DT Brandon Pill (1-year, $2 million), S AJ Finley (2-year, $12 million), LB Drake Thomas, and tendered WR Jake Bobo, providing the team an opportunity to match if any other teams come calling.
🦁 Lions (+900)
I don't love the Lions start to the offseason, with a couple of key departures and a pair of newcomers, one of whom - former Chiefs' running back Isiah Pacheco - won't move the needle much in the right direction.
Lions' departures:
- LB Alex Anzalone (Buccaneers)
- RB David Montgomery (Texans)
- DB Amik Robertson (Commanders)
- DT Roy Lopez (Cardinals)
Lions' key additions:
| Player | Position | Contract |
|---|---|---|
| Isiah Pacheco | RB | 1-year, $1.81 million |
| Cade Mays | C | 3-year, $25 million |
| Christian Izien | DB | 1 year |
🦁 Eagles (+1700)
Does mass exodus fairly represent what has happened in the City of Brotherly Love? I'd say so, but I'll let you be the judge.
Eagles' departures:
- OLB Jaelan Phillips (Panthers)
- WR Jahan Dotson (Falcons)
- LB Nakobe Dean (Raiders)
- S Reed Blankenship (Texans)
- OL Matt Pryor (Cardinals)
- iOL Brett Toth (49ers)
- QB Sam Howell (Cowboys)
- Edge Josh Uche (Dolphins)
- Edge Azeez Ojulari (Falcons)
On the other side of the fence is the Eagles' additions, a list as short as my toddler's patience.
Eagles' key additions:
| Player | Position | Contract |
|---|---|---|
| Riq Woolen | CB | 1-year, $15 million |
| Johnny Mundt | TE | 1 year |
The Eagles retained IDL Jordan Davis (3-year, $78 million), DB Michael Carter II, TE Grant Calcaterra, P Braden Mann, CB Jonathan Jones, and Edge Arnold Ebiketie.
