2026 NFL Draft Odds After Trade Deadline: Could Jets Take QB Ty Simpson With No. 1 Pick?

After the Jets shed stars at the NFL trade deadline, they could be in line for the No. 1 pick - and Alabama's QB is the favorite to be the top choice.

The New York Jets were already on track for the No. 1 pick after a 1-7 start to the season. Then they dealt multiple stars at the NFL trade deadline to pick up more draft assets, and the latest NFL draft odds suggest they could have their sights set on Alabama's star QB.

Ty Simpson is the current favorite to be the No. 1 pick amid a Heisman Trophy-worthy campaign for the Crimson Tide, though he isn't the only quarterback moving up draft boards ahead of the rookie draft next April. Here's a look at the latest odds to be the first pick along with the projected NFL draft order entering Week 10.

✈️ Will Jets draft QB in 2026?

It's been decades since the Jets last featured a true franchise QB that could lift them to the NFL postseason, which they haven't reached since the 2010-11 season. But they'll be as well-positioned as any team in football to change that in 2026.

New York already feature one of the NFL's worst records (1-7) through nine weeks, joining the New Orleans Saints (1-8) and Tennessee Titans (1-8) as the only one-win teams left. Then the Jets added to their draft haul by turning defensive stars Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams for four picks - including a first and a second in next April's draft.

Who could be the target for New York (or New Orleans) at the top of the board? The latest odds suggest Simpson, whom our college football expert Rob Paul has praised as an NFL draft prospect, is the front-runner for the No. 1 pick by the latest NFL draft odds as he leads Alabama to a potential playoff run in his first season as a starter.

The other top options include Indiana's Fernando Mendoza and Oregon's Dante Moore, who both started their careers in the Pac-12 before transferring to Big Ten powers - and each have led the Heisman race at various points this year. South Carolina dual-threat QB LaNorris Sellers is the upside play as a ridiculous athlete whose production has waned this year in a throwaway season for the Gamecocks.

The wild-card option is Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr., who has shot up draft boards this season as arguably the most impactful defender in college football. He could be a nice replacement up front for the Jets after they traded away Williams to Dallas, though New York seems likely to address the elephant under center before anything else.
