- The team's rookie edge Nic Scourton and Princely Umanmielen were injured in the team's final week of preseason, but both seem to be OK, according to Coach Dave Canales.
- There have been multiple reports about Carolina possibly trading wide receiver Adam Thielen back to his old team, the Minnesota Vikings, but Canales said he was leaving that up to General Manager Dan Morgan. The Panthers are fairly deep at the position, which would allow them to deal the 35-year-old.
- Offensive lineman Taylor Moten agreed to a two-year extension with the Panthers on Aug. 22.
