Browns vs. Steelers Odds, Picks, Predictions Week 18: Pittsburgh Favored With Playoff Berth in Play
Last Updated: January 8, 2023 6:19 AM EST • 4 minute read X Social Google News Link
It's still possible for the Pittsburgh Steelers to make the playoffs despite starting the season 2-6. For them to have any chance, they will need a great deal of help, as well as a victory over the Cleveland Browns. Read on for our Browns-Steelers pick based on the top odds.
Mike Tomlin has never had a losing season as a head coach. Now, in his 16th year, the Steelers were written off when they started the season 2-6 and turned to rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett. However, since that time, the Steelers won six of eight, and they can earn a playoff berth if they beat the Browns and get help from some AFC East teams.
The Browns have won three of their last five games, and last week, for the first time since Deshaun Watson returned from his suspension, they looked like a complete offensive team.
However, in Watson’s five games, the Browns have scored less than 20 three times. Meanwhile, the Steelers haven’t allowed an opponent to score 20 points since Week 11.
Here is our best Browns vs. Steelers NFL pick for Week 18 (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, and PointsBet; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Browns vs. Steelers Odds Analysis
The Steelers opened as 1.5-point favorites, but that line has moved to 2.5, and it could potentially move to the key number by kickoff on Sunday. Bettors are split, according to pregame.com, with 58% of the cash backing the Browns but 62% of tickets backing the Steelers.
The total opened at 42, but it has since dropped to 40.5. Even with the drop, over 80% of bettors are backing the Under.
Browns vs. Steelers Pick
Under 40.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Under has hit in six straight Browns games and all five of the games that Watson has started. That includes when the line was set at 32 for their game against the New Orleans Saints.
For the Steelers, the Under has hit in four of their last five games, and they have not had a game end with a total of Over 40 points since November.
Strictly looking at recent trends isn’t going to win many bets, but the truth is, these two teams are sound defensively, and neither offers much of anything on the offensive side of the ball.
The Steelers have scored more than 20 points just once in their last five games, while Watson has not provided the offensive spark the Browns were hoping to get.
One thing being overlooked in this game is how well the Browns’ defense has been playing. It's allowed more than 20 points just once in its last six games, and that came against Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Though the Browns will be on the road for this game, the Steelers are averaging just 17.5 points per game on the year, and that goes up to only 18.7 at home.

DraftKings, BetMGM, Caesars, PointsBet (-110)
| DraftKings | FanDuel | BetMGM | Caesars | PointsBet |
| 40.5 | 40.5 | 40.5 | 40.5 | 40.5 |

All five of the major sportsbooks are offering the same number, though the price for the Under is slightly more at FanDuel. You can’t go wrong placing a wager at any of the sportsbooks, but you should get in sooner rather than later. With how both of these teams have been playing, this number is just going to continue to drop.
Seven of the last eight Steelers games have had a line of less than 40 at kickoff. Two of the last three Browns’ games have featured a number in that same range.
