When the Broncos and Chiefs met in Denver a few weeks ago, Wilson put together his best performance with the Broncos, throwing a season-high three passing touchdowns before leaving the contest and entering concussion protocol. The narrow 34-28 victory for Kansas City was one of several recent disappointing performances by the Chiefs.
The fog was seemingly lifted on Christmas Eve as the Chiefs limited the Seattle Seahawks to 10 points and covered a spread for the first time since October. A stout defensive performance and a clean showing in the turnover department were key factors to the accomplishment as it marked the first time Kansas City had won the turnover margin since Week 11.
I expect Steve Spagnuolo’s defense to play with pride after allowing the team with the worst scoring average in the NFL (15.5 points per game) to torch it for four passing touchdowns in Week 14. The venue change should help on that front, as the Chiefs have permitted an average of 18.7 points per home game this season, a rate that’s been even more impressive of late. KC has allowed just 13.5 points per home game since the beginning of November.
