It's probably best to make your Super Bowl predictions before beginning to indulge with some of the best Super Bowl 2026 beer (responsibly!).

The marriage between beer and football is an everlasting one, and that's especially true when it comes to the Super Bowl. Beer is forever tied to the brightest NFL spotlight, including the Super Bowl commercials while bringing us many of the main characters over the years, from the frogs to the wassup guys and the clydesdales (all Budweiser, somehow).

Let's enhance the experience while looking at the best choices for your Super Bowl suds.

📋 Best Super Bowl 2026 beer

I consulted some of my fellow football and beer lovers and asked which brew is the best Super Bowl companion. The boxes we want to check are simple but critical to the optimal Super Bowl Sunday experience:

  • Is is widely available?
  • Does it pair well with many of the core football snacks, including the delectible options showcased in our Super Bowl food index?
  • Is it easy drinking? As in, is it not an IPA during the Super Bowl please oh please no.

Tossing out their best cold ones to crack as you watch the New England Patriots clash with the Seattle Seahawks are Esten McLaren, LJ Blut, Rob Paul, Matt Burke, James Bisson, Corey Scott, Andrew Reid, and Liam Fox.

Beer drinker Beer Grade
LJ Blut Miller Lite 9/10

🍺 Top Super Bowl beers

Here's the SBR-sanctioned Super Bowl beer guide from our noble list of brewmasters, which builds off our Super Bowl beer 2025.

Corona Light

"Corona and limes combine to make sunshine in a clear-glass bottle. I’m just going to opt with the light version here. It tastes better than regular Corona, and it won’t make you feel like a 320-pound offensive lineman after downing two or three."

- Matt Burke

Beer scouting report and rating: This is tied for the lightest beer among our offerings in alcohol content while coming in at 4% and just 99 calories. It provides the ideal way to make sure it's mostly just the copious amounts of food making your gut grow during the Super Bowl. 8/10

Miller Lite

"Miller Lite has powered Super Bowl Sunday for over 50 years and is the same great-tasting, less-filling beer we all know and love. The only thing Budweiser has over Miller Lite is the vintage 'wassup' commercials. If we’re judging by taste alone, Miller Lite takes the crown."

- LJ Blut

Beer scouting report and rating: Another light beer favorite, Miller Lite has been going down easy for generations and is an old-school American pilsner. Ask your dad about the tense tastes great or less filling debates of the early 80s. 9/10

Corona

"Treat yourself. It's the Big Game.

It's been a long, hard winter across nearly the entire country. The end of the NFL season is one of our first signs that summer is near, or at least coming up eventually, right? (Please?). Get the beer on ice (a cooler is preferred over the fridge for Super Bowl Sunday), grab a bag of fresh limes, cut them up, and add a couple of wedges to each long neck bottle. We deserve it."

- Esten McLaren

Beer scouting report and rating: The only knock I have on Corona is that there's an almost required food ingredient. As the Coronas pile up and I've eaten several soft pretzels and a pound or two of wings, any additional work feels monumental. 7/10

Michelob Ultra

"Michelob Ultra has become one of America's favorite beers this decade for good reason. It's light and pairs nicely with any food you have on offer at your Super Bowl party."

- Liam Fox

Beer scouting report and rating: This edges out Corona Light to be the lightest option on our list calorie-wise (95). If you want to enjoy yourself while also being at least somewhat health-conscious, the beer brand with a full line of activewear is the one for you. 9/10

Guinness

"Stouties unite! You've already made up your mind on whether you're a Guinness lover, but let me lay out why it's the perfect Super Bowl palate pleaser. 4.2% ABV? On par with Bud Light. Super Bowl Sunday is a marathon. You need to pace yourself – and Guinness helps. It's also nitrogenated, so you won't get a bad case of the bloats. Cuts through the salt and heat of your Super Bowl menu, as well. So join me, won't you?"

- James Bisson

Beer scouting report and rating: Look, I love a Guinness, and if you live correctly and abide by the rule that the colder the weather gets the darker the beer goes, this one is a winter requirement. The problem is that while yes it's not as bloating, Guinness just doesn't go down as smoothly as others here, which is key for a Super Bowl beer. 6/10

Sam Adams Boston Lager

"Patriots fans, this one's for you. Not quite a mass-produced lager, not quite a craft beer, a happy middle ground. If you like a nice malty brew, this one is a beauty. Not too bitter, not too sweet, pairing great with whatever food you plunk down with it. So scarf some wings, burgers, and fries, and chug a Boston Lager (or a few!) as you celebrate a Patriots victory!"

- Andrew Reid

Beer scouting report and rating: Yes, this is the beer for those who enjoy some maltiness, and to drift back to your glory days when you were an extra on Good Will Hunting. Drinking Sam Adams on this particular Sunday Bowl Sunday will also feel like you're next in line to do a celebratory head butt with Mike Vrabel, which is either a selling feature or the most instant hard pass. You decide! 7/10

Pabst Blue Ribbon

"The Super Bowl has become so expensive nowadays (insert Grandpa Simpson yelling at cloud meme). I’m paying for food, gambling, and drinks - in this economy? PBRs taste good for the price, and it leaves you with more money to bet on The Big Game (responsibly, of course)."

- Corey Scott

Beer scouting report and rating: The perfect beer for those who want to be budget-conscious after blowing far too much money on bacon to use in various forms for the in-game platter. 7/10

Modelo

"As a die-hard beer drinker, my go-to beers are craft stouts and sours. But on game day, I need something a little more refreshing and crisper. Something I can drink a half-dozen of without dealing with bloating (or getting, you know, too drunk while trying to actually take in the game). That void used to be filled by basic light beers, but not anymore.

One thing to know about me is that I'm easily persuaded by a good commercial, and Modelo is right up there with Guinness for the best in the beer business. And as a college football fan, this year's ad campaign with the "Modelo recruiter" searching for full-time fans fully converted me.

Nothing tops a Modelo when watching the greatest sport in the world while surrounded by friends. A great man once told me, "Football isn't really football without you," and that man was the Modelo recruiter."

- Rob Paul

Beer scouting report and rating: This rivals Corona if you're craving a taste of summer with your fall/winter sports spectacle. It's cerveza in the classic Mexican style, and it takes the mind and taste buds to a sunny resort as you sit poolside. 8/10
