Anytime Touchdown Scorer Predictions Week 17: Picks & Odds for Sunday

Our anytime touchdown scorer predictions hunt for a big payday during the NFL's Week 17 Sunday slate.

We enjoyed a couple of Christmas gifts from our anytime touchdown scorer predictions and carry on through the NFL's Week 17 slate looking for a little extra dough for the new year from the NFL odds.

Our 2023 NFL anytime touchdown scorer predictions were up 14.45 units through Week 16. The extended Christmas slate included green checkmarks from New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson (+600) and Chicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert (+270). Those lucrative hits balanced out our 2-3 record on the week.

Our Week 17 picks started with a loss as Cleveland Browns tight end Harrison Bryant wasn't the recipient of one of QB Joe Flacco's three passing touchdowns during Thursday Night Football's rout of the New York Jets. We're now down to plus-12.45 units for the season after Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott failed to score on Saturday.

Fortunately, we have a full Sunday slate for New Year's Eve.

Here is our best anytime touchdown scorer prediction for the NFL's Week 17 based on the odds from our best NFL betting sites

Anytime touchdown scorer predictions Week 17: Sunday

Chargers vs. Broncos anytime touchdown scorer prediction: Jalen Guyton, LAC, WR (+550 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐

The Denver Broncos have allowed 776 receiving yards to opposing wide receivers through their last four games - more than all but three teams in that span. Yet the Broncos have surrendered just two touchdowns to the position and have some regression coming their way in Week 17, despite the soft matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Jalen Guyton has caught just 10 of 21 targets for 89 yards through seven games this season. However, he's had a stronger connection with Easton Stick starting under center, as he's caught three of four targets in the last two weeks. That was while playing 49% of the snaps in Week 15 and 24% last week. Now, Guyton's expected to see an expanded role with wide receiver Joshua Palmer out for Week 17.

Guyton's 0.2 projected touchdowns on Sunday afternoon match teammate Quentin Johnston for the most among Chargers receivers. We can get +550 odds via bet365 for Guyton to find the end zone, while the best price available for Johnston is +380 via FanDuel.

Packers vs. Vikings anytime touchdown scorer prediction: Justin Jefferson, MIN, WR (+135 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

We usually like to aim for higher odds than +135 with this column but value is value and FanDuel is offering plenty of it for the Vikings' No. 1 receiver to get back in the end zone for the second straight week.

Jefferson is projected for 0.5 touchdowns on Sunday night. Our betting calculators translate that 50% implied probability to odds of +100 but we're able to get this +135 ticket courtesy of FanDuel with BetMGM setting the market low at -125.

Jefferson garnered 10 targets each of the past two weeks. He turned those into 13 total receptions for 225 yards and his fourth touchdown of the season came last week at home against the Detroit Lions. Jefferson and the Vikings are home for a second straight week against an NFC North rival while continuing to fight for an unlikely playoff berth.

The Packers will also be without top cornerback Jaire Alexander for Week 17 after suspending him for one game due to conduct detrimental to the team.

Jefferson missed the Packers and Vikings first head-to-head meeting this season in Week 8, but Minnesota still won 24-10 at Lambeau Field. Jefferson has totaled 478 yards and four touchdowns in six career games against the Packers.

Anytime touchdown scorer predictions Week 17: Saturday

Lions vs. Cowboys anytime touchdown scorer prediction: Dak Prescott, DAL, QB (+400 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐ ❌

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has just two rushing touchdowns through 15 games but he and his team have taken back-to-back losses for the first time on the 2023 season entering Week 17. With a much-needed return to AT&T Stadium for Saturday's highly important all-NFC battle with the Detroit Lions, I'm counting on the former MVP frontrunner to shine.

Prescott and the Cowboys draw a Lions team that has surrendered five rushing scores and a league-high 406 rushing yards to quarterbacks this season. Three of those touchdowns - and 123 of those yards - came in the last four weeks. While rushing hasn't been a focus of Prescott's game in recent seasons, he had six scores on the ground in each of his first three NFL campaigns.

Prescott is projected for 0.2 rushing touchdowns during Saturday's standalone game. Our odds converter tells us we need odds of at least +400 to make a bet at that 20% implied probability. That's the number we're getting via BetMGM's outlier offering; BetRivers has set the market-low at +280.

Anytime touchdown scorer predictions Week 17: Thursday Night Football

Jets vs. Browns anytime touchdown scorer prediction: Harrison Bryant, CLE, TE (+1300 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐ ❌

Cleveland Browns tight end Harrison Bryant has had a quiet three weeks with just two targets and one reception for a meager six yards. Yet, he played at least 27% of the snaps in each of those games and remains an option for QB Joe Flacco.

Before the dry spell, Bryant had caught touchdowns in back-to-back games, including Flacco's first start against the Los Angeles Rams on Dec. 3. Bryant caught all five of his targets for 49 yards in that game.

The Jets' elite secondary limits opposing wide receivers better than any other team this season with just four touchdowns allowed through Week 16. However, Gang Green has given up eight touchdowns to tight ends to match the Rams for the second-most allowed to the position.

Browns tight end David Njoku has been dominant in the passing game with 31 targets and four touchdowns over the last three weeks. But with the Jets' forcing Flacco to lean more heavily on his tight ends during Thursday Night Football, I'm more interested in the lofty +1300 odds for Bryant to find his way into the end zone again over the market-best +185 odds from FanDuel for Njoku to do the same.
