There's no downplaying the dominance of South Carolina, which has now won 78 of its last 79 games ahead of this year's Final Four. But the Gamecocks have quietly been tested against top competition this season.

After two blowout wins to open March Madness, Dawn Staley's group beat Indiana and Oregon State by a combined 16 points to win the Albany 1 Regional, which came after an uninspiring run in the SEC Tournament. In fact, six of South Carolina's last seven wins over ranked opponents have come by 12 or fewer points with five decided by single digits.

NC State, which ranks 11th by the final AP Poll, has emerged as a legitimate force this season behind the play of budding star Aziaha James - who dropped 27 points on top-seeded Texas in the Elite Eight after scoring 29 points against Stanford in the Sweet 16.
