My Minnesota vs. Missouri prediction digs into what should be a strong early-season test for both teams. The Tigers are a 6.5-point betting favorite ahead of tip from Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Mo., at 8 p.m. ET (SEC Network+).

One team will take its first loss tonight. The Tigers are off to a 3-0 start and received votes in the last AP Poll. The Golden Gophers are 2-0 to begin the Niko Medved era, but this is their first road challenge.

🏀 Minnesota vs. Missouri preview & score prediction

Minnesota and Missouri are both undefeated to start the year, though neither has faced anyone ranked higher than 217th on KenPom. It’s worth questioning whether these teams can maintain their early-season pace against real competition.

Will both teams continue to score?

Dennis Gates’ Tigers have developed quite the offensive reputation since he took over the team in 2022-23. Missouri has ranked top 10 in adjusted offensive efficiency in two of the past three seasons.

Missouri is 17th in that metric so far this year, but has averaged 94 points per game during a 3-0 start. The Tigers’ average offensive possession length is 14.1 seconds (18th in the nation), so they want to score quickly.

On the other side, Minnesota has averaged 91 points in the first two games under Medved. This comes after he guided Colorado State to a top-59 offense in five of his last six seasons at the helm.

I’ve seen some of the best sports betting sites move this line up to 157.5, so I like taking advantage of bet365’s offering of 156.5. I expect both teams to do their part in this non-conference matchup, earning $9.09 on a $10 bet.

Score prediction: Missouri 83, Minnesota 78

🆚 Minnesota vs. Missouri matchup to watch

Jaylen Crocker-Johnson vs. Missouri’s length

For Minnesota to have a chance on Wednesday, Jaylen Crocker-Johnson has to hold his own against Missouri’s frontcourt. Crocker-Johnson, who is 6-foot-8, followed his coach from Colorado State and has made an immediate impact.

Through two games, he's recorded 30 total rebounds. His defensive rebound rate of 36.2% ranks 13th in the nation. His offensive rebound rate of 23.7% is 22nd in the country.

Missouri, which ranks 12th in the nation in average height, is 95th or better in both offensive and defensive rebounding. Still, I appreciate the value of Crocker-Johnson collecting 11 boards, considering he’s had no problem surpassing this number thus far.

Best prop bet: Jaylen Crocker-Johnson Over 10.5 rebounds (-105 via BetMGM)
