πŸ†š 2026 NCAA Tournament format explained

The 2026 NCAA Tournament features 68 teams competing in a single-elimination format across three weeks. The field opens with the First Four - four play-in games in Dayton, Ohio - which whittles the bracket down to 64.

Those 64 teams are divided into four regions (East, West, South, Midwest) and seeded 1 through 16, with No. 1 seeds facing No. 16s in the opening round. The 1 seeds are typically atop the March Madness odds, but lose once, and you're done.

Survivors advance through the Round of 32, Sweet 16, and Elite Eight before the last four teams meet at the Final Four in Indianapolis, where one champion is crowned on Monday, April 6.
