First place is on the line in the SEC as I break down this massive matchup between two bitter rivals with my Kentucky vs. Florida prediction. Tipoff from Stephen C. O’Connell Center in Gainesville, Fla. is set for 3 p.m. ET (ABC).
Despite No. 25 Kentucky being 8-1 in its last nine games, No. 14 Florida is an 11-point home favorite. With the spread being so high, I am focusing on the first half number with my best bet, while expecting Florida’s lockdown defense to contain Wildcats leading scorer Otega Oweh.

Check out all of our college basketball analysis and expert predictions this season.
Kentucky faced four top 20 KenPom teams in its recent 8-1 stretch. Against that top-tier competition, the Wildcats trailed by 11, 14, and 20 points at halftime in three games, while coming back to win twice.
Eight of Florida’s nine SEC wins have come by 15-plus points. I am taking the variability of the full-game spread out of the equation with this first half play.
Florida’s defense has been elite, holding its last two opponents under 35% shooting. Prior to that, it held South Carolina to 0.69 points per possession, while Alabama scored 15 points under its season average.
Score prediction: Florida 84, Kentucky 71
🔥 Best Kentucky vs. Florida player prop: Otega Oweh, Kentucky, Under 18.5 points (-102)
Otega Oweh leads the Wildcats in scoring at 17.1 points per game. He has performed exceptionally well in SEC play, scoring 20-plus in five straight games, with a 20.6 points per game scoring average over his last 12.
However, Oweh should be in for a rough time against a Florida defense that was only the fifth in the last 20 seasons to hold consecutive SEC opponents below 35% shooting. That doesn’t include a game against Alabama where the Gators held the SEC’s leading scorer, Labaron Philon Jr., to 7.4 points under his season average.
