The New York Knicks (49-28), who are on the wrong end of a back-to-back set, draw the Phoenix Suns (35-42) this evening as we make our Suns vs. Knicks prediction and player prop picks for the 7 p.m. ET tipoff at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Knicks are 9.5-point betting favorites, and I'm backing New York to cover and win at home.

While Phoenix is only two games out of the Play-In Tournament odds, the Suns won’t have Kevin Durant tonight, and they have a brutal schedule down the stretch.

📊 Suns vs. Knicks pick & odds: Who will win tonight's NBA matchup?

As of Sunday morning, the Knicks are favored by 9.5 points to beat the Suns in tonight's NBA matchup at 7 p.m. ET from Madison Square Garden in New York. Kevin Durant is out for Phoenix, and we’ll have to wait for New York’s injury report. Still, I’m predicting the Knicks will beat the Suns and cover the spread (-9.5).

🔢 Suns vs. Knicks odds & betting lines

Here are the latest Suns vs. Knicks odds and betting lines from our best live betting sites.

🎯 Suns vs. Knicks score prediction: Knicks 128, Suns 112

The Suns are waving the white flag. After a 20-point loss to the Boston Celtics, star guard Devin Booker sounded defeated while discussing the losing season - and the looming rebuild. Star forward Kevin Durant didn’t even suit up as Phoenix fights for its playoff life.

This spot is a tough one for the Knicks, as they just played last night, but it’s even tougher for Phoenix. The Suns are two games back of the play-in tournament with five games to go, and only one of their opponents down the stretch is in the draft lottery.

With so little to play for and one key piece missing, it’s hard to trust the Suns to keep it close. I predict the Knicks will beat the Suns by a final score of Knicks 128, Suns 112.

When Kevin Durant sits, Devin Booker averages 3.1 turnovers per game. That’s a hair below where this NBA player prop line is set, but when we filter out games played before the All-Star break, that average ticks up to 3.5.

The Knicks are great at forcing turnovers. Since the break, they rank fifth in turnovers forced per game (15.2). When we look at just the last 15 games, they rank eighth in turnovers forced per game from point guards (3.7) and 12th from shooting guards (2.6).

Booker is going to play almost the entirety of this game, especially if Phoenix can keep it remotely close. He played 43 minutes against the Bucks and 38 against the Celtics. There we be plenty of chances for the Knicks to take the ball away from him, and I expect them to deliver.

📊 Best Devin Booker prop bet odds

🏀 Best Josh Hart prop pick: Over 5.5 Assists ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: -130 via DraftKings ($10 to win $7.69)

The Suns’ defense struggles in transition. They rank 29th in points surrendered off turnovers since the All-Star break (20.1) and 26th in points surrendered on the fast break (18). Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby lead the way in points off turnovers, while Anunoby and Mikal Bridges lead the way in fast break scoring.

With Hart’s skill as a rebounder and ball thief, he stands out as a great option to be the initiator on the fast break, resulting in plenty of assists. The Suns rank 27th in assists allowed per game since the All-Star break (28.9), too, which points to some value in the half-court as well.

Hart barely trails Brunson in total passes per contest since the break at 53.8 to 54.4. While Brunson’s passes have yielded seven assists per game on 11.3 potential assists, Hart’s have yielded 6.3 on exactly 10 expected assists. Both players are decent value plays on the assist markets, but I prefer Hart due to his grittiness on the defensive end creating opportunities in transition.

It would be lazy for me to simply say that you should fade Beal because he is washed up, but it would be dishonest for me to not say that’s a key part of the logic here. Beal is averaging only 15.9 points per game since the break, including a disastrous one-point showing on Friday in his return from injury.

Beal’s last two games have seen him total just five points. He even posted an embarrassing - and career-low - zero points against the Los Angeles Clippers in March. While Durant’s absence means more volume for Beal, as he is averaging 19.3 points per game without him on the year, I simply have no faith in him anymore.

Almost all of our best sports betting apps list Beal’s points prop at 15.5, but we can find a 16.5 at Fanatics - and we’re not far off from the prices being charged for that number. Sharp offshores have the Under 15.5 at roughly even money, so paying up by a slight margin for an extra point should prove sharp. Lock this in before Fanatics drops the total to 15.5.
