🏀 Hornets Betting Trends 2026: Why Charlotte is a Dream for Bettors

There are "locks" in sports betting, and then there are the Charlotte Hornets (32-31), who have been perfect against the spread for an entire month.
They've brought an entirely new meaning to the word "automatic" after going 9-0 ATS since Feb. 11 - it's safe to say the narrative around the team has shifted. Under the leadership of head coach Charles Lee and the explosive development of the new starting five, the Hornets have transformed from a lottery afterthought into an absolute cash cow for disciplined sports bettors.
While the public focuses on the Celtics or Thunder, sharp bettors are looking at the Queen City at our best sports betting sites. Here's why the 2025-26 Hornets are a dream for your bankroll.
π° The Charles Lee effect and Hornets' ATS dominance
Before we dive into the growth of the Hornets, let's take a brief glimpse at how this team has covered over the last month.
| Date | Matchup | Score | Spread |
|---|---|---|---|
| Feb. 11 | vs Hawks | 110-107 (W) | Hornets -2.5 β |
| Feb. 19 | vs Rockets | 105-101 (L) | Rockets -4.5 β |
| Feb. 20 | vs Cavaliers | 118-113 (L) | Cavs -5.5 β |
| Feb. 22 | @ Wizards | 129-112 (W) | Hornets -10.5 β |
| Feb. 24 | @ Bulls | 131-99 (W) | Hornets -7.5 β |
| Feb. 26 | @ Pacers | 133-109 (W) | Hornets -12.5 β |
| Feb. 28 | vs Trail Blazers | 109-93 (W) | Hornets -6.5 β |
| March 3 | vs Mavericks | 117-90 (W) | Hornets -13.5 β |
| March 4 | @ Celtics | 118-89 (W) | Celtics -6.5 β |
Charlotte has become the best team in the NBA against the spread (63.5%), currently sitting with a staggering 40-23 ATS record. For what it's worth, the Suns slot in at No. 2, covering at 59%. Luckily for me, I caught on a few games after the All-Star break and have been shouting to anyone who listens to build their bankroll with me.
The Charles Lee effect has brought a defensive structure (ranking sixth in the NBA in defensive rating since February) that keeps Charlotte in games it previously would've lost by 20. This was most recently on display against Boston, holding the high-powered Celtics to just 89 points in a 118-89 blowout win. The players are simply buying in on both ends of the court.
Whether they are home favorites or road underdogs, the Hornets are consistently undervalued by oddsmakers who haven't yet adjusted to their new defensive floor.
5οΈβ£ The "new" starting five: Efficiency is everything
The mid-season surge can be traced directly to the health and chemistry of their core. The starting lineup of LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, Kon Knueppel, Miles Bridges, and Moussa Diabate has posted a historic +31.2 net rating when playing together (609 possessions). For comparative purposes, that's better than the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons, who are sitting at just +14.4. With the core (finally) registering minutes together, the Hornets have become a legitimate threat.
Let's get one thing straight, though, Charlotte is no longer just a cover team - they have become a straight-up threat against top-tier opponents, too, giving bettors plus-money value on a nightly basis. Their recent 117-90 rout of the Mavericks and a statement win over the Celtics prove that this team has a ceiling that the current +12500 NBA championship odds completely ignore.
βΉοΈThe Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel breakout
If you aren't betting Brandon Miller's player props, you're leaving money on the table. In his third season, Miller has evolved into a legitimate offensive engine, averaging 20.8 points per game while shooting a career-high 37.7% from 3-point land.
The specific market to target? You guessed it - 3-pointers made. The volume is there, as Miller is currently attempting nearly 10 triples per game and has cleared his Over on 3.5 made threes in seven of his last 11 outings. The markets have yet to adjust, with his 4+ made 3-pointers still sitting at +124 for tonight's game against the Heat.
Kon Knueppel, who's taken over as the NBA Rookie of the Year odds favorite, is up to much of the same and has been a big part the Hornets' success this season. He's still seeing plus-money value on his 4+ 3-pointers despite hitting this number in six of his last 11 games. Not to mention his points prop, which consistently sits under 20 points - a number he's flown over in four of his last six games. What does that mean? The oddsmakers continue to disrespect the Hornets, and you need to take advantage.
It's clear the starting five has been playing their best basketball, which includes 24-year-old Diabate, who said it best following the team's recent blowout win against the Celtics: "For us, itβs a great thing, itβs a great message to the league as well - understand that the Hornets are here."

π Hornets betting trends 2026
| Category | 2025-26 stat | Betting takeaway |
|---|---|---|
| Overall ATS record | 40-23 | The No. 1 profitable team in the Eastern Conference. |
| Road underdog ATS | 14-8 | Elite value when getting 5+ points on the road. |
| Over/Under record | 39-24 (Under) | Their improved defense has made the Under a 61.9% winner. |
| Record as favorites | 16-3 (84.2%) | They take care of business when they are expected to win. |
| Last 10 games | 8-2 | Currently on a 6-game win streak (as of March 6). |
Charlotte's high cover rate is anchored by their play on the road, where they've posted a profitable 14-8 mark, consistently taking advantage of sportsbooks' disrespect. Furthermore, a dramatic defensive turnaround has made them an Under specialist, with the total going Under in 61.9% of their games. Two trends to absolutely keep an eye on down the stretch of the season.
π¦ Hornets futures I'm playing today
| Bet | Odds | Units |
|---|---|---|
| 45+ Regular-season wins | +182 | 0.5u |
| Make playoffs | -240 | 2u |
| Win Southeast Division | +270 | 0.5u |
| Win NBA championship | +10000 | 0.1u |
I'm dropping two full units on the Hornets to make this playoffs at -240 chalk. I play my units at $100 each, so I'm exposing $200 of my bankroll here - and I'm confident in doing so. Charlotte is just two games back of the division lead, so I'm surprised the number is as short as it is. I'll be dabbling everywhere else at .5u or less as I try to take advantage of this underrated squad. With 19 games left on the schedule, Charlotte will have to go 13-6 to win 45 regular-season games. With matchups against the Kings (x2), Grizzlies, Nets, and Blazers still on the table, I love this play.
