Celtics vs. Pacers NBA Player Props, Odds: Tatum Ready to Dominate in Indiana

The In-Season Tournament knockout round tips off with a marquee Eastern Conference showdown between the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers on Monday, and our Celtics vs. Pacers NBA player props are based on the best NBA odds.

After becoming just one of two teams to post a 4-0 record in group play, the Indiana Pacers host the Boston Celtics on Monday in the first game of the NBA In-Season Tournament knockout stage — with the winner advancing to Thursday's semifinals.

In their first meeting, the Celtics secured a dominant 155-104 victory over Indiana, but that game took place in Boston and the Pacers were without star point guard Tyrese Haliburton. This time around, Haliburton and Obi Toppin are questionable for Indiana, while Boston will be without Kristaps Porzingis.

Can the Pacers avenge that dreadful loss at home and advance in the In-Season Tournament, or will the Celtics secure another commanding victory?

Jayson Tatum Over 34.5 points (+175 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

Tatum’s scoring average is down from a season ago, but he’s still a premier bucket-getter. Tatum has scored at least 30 points in eight games this season but 35 points only twice. He’ll make it three games with a big scoring performance at Indiana tonight.

Over his last six games, Tatum’s biggest scoring performances came against the Atlanta Hawks (34) and against the Charlotte Hornets (45). He's coming off consecutive 21-point outings, but one was a blowout win over the Chicago Bulls, and he was ejected against the Philadelphia 76ers. Tonight’s matchup against the Pacers provides an excellent chance to shine.

Indiana allows the most points per game to opponents, the highest 3-point percentage, and the most points in the paint. The Pacers are also the highest-scoring team in the Association, which means they are involved in plenty of high-scoring contests. That benefits Boston’s top scorer tremendously. 

Tatum posted 30 points in just 27 minutes when these two teams met on Nov. 1 in Boston. Haliburton is questionable tonight with an illness, but if he plays, this should be a much more competitive contest. Boston is a league-best +17.6 at home compared to +2 on the road, and Indiana can hang with the Celtics in a game with some extra implications. Expect Tatum to come out hot and dominate as a scorer.

Tyrese Haliburton Under 41.5 points + rebounds + assists (-104 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

We’re taking the Over on Tatum, but we’ll have to go Under for the opposing superstar. Haliburton has been phenomenal this season, averaging 27 points, 3.6 rebounds and a league-leading 11.8 dimes, good for a PRA average of 42.4. Easy money, right? Not necessarily.

Haliburton has provided at least 42 PRAs in nine of 16 games, including four of his last five, but his PRA output has been far better on the road than at home. On the road, Haliburton is averaging a ridiculous 50.8 PRA compared to just 38.6 at home. 

Boston allows the fourth-fewest points per game, the ninth-fewest triples, and the second-fewest assists. Haliburton is a gifted enough scorer and facilitator to overcome Boston’s strong defense, but this is a high mark to hit, and he will likely be operating at less than 100% due to a respiratory illness. We’ll take the Under.
