We are certainly at the point in the NBA season where lottery-bound teams will tack on an extra week or two of rest for injured players. Wizards center Alex Sarr resembles that remark as he is slowly making a return from a hamstring injury. Below, we will look at when Sarr will be back and return to the court for the Wizards. We will also take a glance at Sarrβs fantasy basketball stock and Wizards betting odds.
π When will Alex Sarr return and be back on the court for the Wizards?
Sarr is dealing with a strained right hamstring and has not played since Feb. 28. This appears to be a mild strain as the Wizards already stated that their star center would only miss around two weeks of action.
It typically takes just 1-2 weeks to recover from a mild hamstring strain, but Washington is obviously being cautious with little-to-no incentive for him to be rushed back. The Wizards are 16-41 on the season, which is the fourth-worst record in the league.
Sarr has already been out 17 days, which is past the initial projection of time he would miss.
Here is a look at potential dates in which Sarr is likely to return.
- Thursday, Feb. 26: Wizards at Hawks
- Saturday, Feb. 28: Raptors at Wizards
- Monday, March 2: Rockets at Wizards
- Tuesday, March 3: Wizards at Magic
- Thursday, March 5: Jazz at Wizards
Teams typically have players returning from injury get back into the swing of things on home dates. It would be a surprise if Sarr suits up Thursday against the Hawks.
This Saturday at home against the Raptors, or Monday at home against the Rockets seems more likely.
π Alex Sarr fantasy basketball impact
Sarr is owned in 94% of Yahoo fantasy basketball leagues.
His numbers have increased across the board from his rookie campaign. The 2024 No. 2 overall pick averaged 13.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in his rookie season. This season, Sarr is averaging 17.2 ppg and 7.8 rpg.
Sarr was being picked in most fantasy basketball drafts prior to the season around Round 8.
π° Wizards betting odds
The Wizards are obviously off the board when it comes to NBA Finals odds but there are still plenty of ways to bet on Washington at the best NBA betting sites.
One of the most appealing markets for Wizards backers coming up concerns NBA Draft odds. Kansas guard Darryn Peterson is the favorite to be picked No. 1 overall and has been pegged for Washington in many recent NBA Mock Drafts.
