After getting nine days off, the Golden State Valkyries (10-12) are well rested as 5.5-point favorites when they host the Dallas Wings (7-17) on Friday at 10 p.m. ET (ION) from Chase Center in San Francisco.

Golden State has exceeded expectations due to its ability to defend as a team. The Valkyries rank third in the league in defensive rating (98.8), and that mark improves to 94.1 (still third) when playing at home this year.

The Valkyries are especially good at defending the rim, allowing the fewest points in the paint (28.4) in the league. They only allow 14.4 points off turnovers per contest this year.

Simply put, Golden State is great at making its opponent work for every basket.

The Wings scored 80 points in their head-to-head win over the Valkyries on June 17, but that was also at home. I expect some offensive struggles in this environment, especially since they are 3-10 on the road this year.
