⭐ Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (-250)
As it stands, nine athletes have won the Northern Star Award multiple times, with Wayne Gretzky the all-time leader at four. Gilgeous-Alexander is likely to make it 10 after also being recognized two years ago.
It would be a richly deserved honor after SGA led the league in points per game (32.7) last season while finishing tied for fourth in steals per contest (1.7). He stepped it up in the playoffs as expected, too, averaging 29.9 points per outing (third) while guiding the Thunder to their first championship in Oklahoma City. He then became the first Canadian to be given the NBA Finals MVP Award.
However, he once held a much more overwhelming lead by the Northern Star Award odds at -3500 in July.

While SGA remains an easily justifiable favorite based on his accomplishments after leading his team to a championship, Guerrero came agonizingly close to doing the same.
The Montreal-born Toronto Blue Jays star produced a quality regular season for the eventual American League champs who took the Los Angeles Dodgers to extra innings in Game 7. But he went nuclear during the playoffs while clubbing eight home runs with a .397 batting average and other-worldly 1.289 OPS.
He also established a new franchise record for home runs in a single postseason, and Guerrero's 28 playoff hits rank third in MLB history.
It still seems likely that he finishes narrowly behind SGA in the Northern Star Award voting, though recency bias could play a role. Vlad's odds have shortened dramatically, moving from +2300 in mid-July to +115 now.
