Aryna Sabalenka is the rightful favorite with this being her third major final this year, and sixth straight final at a hard court major. She also enters this matchup amid a 12-match US Open winning streak, and is the first woman to advance to three straight US Open finals since 2014.

Amanda Anisimova has been the more doubted player through this entire run, especially entering her match against Iga Swiatek, who she embarrassingly lost to 6-0, 6-0 in the Wimbledon final. But Anisimova not only passed that test in the quarterfinals, she also knocked off Naomi Osaka, who had not lost a Grand Slam match in the previous four majors when she reached the semifinal.

Anisimova is the one player on tour who can consistently hit ground strokes harder than Sabalenka, so the world No. 1 loses a key advantage she has on every other opponent.

The American has won six of the nine head-to-head matches and leads 3-to-2 in majors.

Sabalenka is now the one who should have questions and doubts looming, as she has made the semifinals or better in every Grand Slam this season, but hasn’t won a title.
