Baseball's two-way star Shohei Ohtani makes his third start of the season Tuesday against one of the worst outfits in the majors: the Washington Nationals. 

There are a number of player prop angles available to bettors as Ohtani is expected to shine both on the mound and at the plate.

We'd prefer to target props that rely solely on the greatness of Ohtani, particularly since the Angels both struggle to provide their star with enough run support and are so adept at blowing leads. But we can't pass up this opportunity.

Ohtani owns a minuscule 0.75 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and robust 13.5 K/9 after two starts and 12 innings pitched so far this season. On Tuesday, he'll matchup against the Nationals' porous lineup. Only third baseman Jeimer Candelario has any experience facing Ohtani, and he's a career 2-for-9 with two strikeouts.

The concern lies in relying on the Angels to pull out the win, but they'll be facing Nationals starter Josiah Gray, who is 0-2 on the season with a 4.91 ERA. He's coming off a 7-10 campaign in 2022 when he posted a 5.02 ERA and gave up a league-high 38 home runs. 

The Nationals have been competitive to begin the season and own a 4-7 record and 3-2 mark on the road, but they've yet to face competition the likes of Ohtani and his sweeper.

Ohtani is already in midseason form from the bump. He's hit the Over on his strikeout prop in his first two outings and his 13.5 K/9 mark trails only Nick Lodolo of the Cincinnati Reds (15.8), Spencer Strider of the Atlanta Braves (14.7), and the New York Yankees' Gerrit Cole (13.9).

The Nationals have only struck out 75 times through 11 games, but Strider recorded nine Ks in six innings of work against Washington on April 1.

We'll continue to ride Ohtani's strikeout string until he gives us reason not to.

Now that we've discussed his pitching prowess, we can't ignore what he's accomplishing at the plate. Ohtani has reached base safely in all 10 games.

While it's tempting to attack Ohtani's total bases or RBI prop, we'll play it safer and take him to record a single at plus money. The lefty batter has hit a single in each of his two starts this season.

Gray has allowed 15 hits in 11 innings of work and owns an xBA of .229.

Ohtani has already drawn seven walks this season, which showcases his incredible plate discipline. But he should see plenty of pitches to hit against Gray and the Nationals bullpen.
