Nationals vs. Braves Prediction, Odds & Expert Picks: MLB Best Bets for Sept. 24

I'm backing the Braves to win an 11th straight game when they face the Nationals at home today.

It may be too late for the Atlanta Braves to be playing their best baseball, but I make the case for them to earn another big win against the Washington Nationals in my Nationals vs. Braves prediction

The Braves are a steep -190 moneyline betting favorite and have covered the run line in nine of the 10 games during their 10-game winning streak, which is the focus of my MLB picks.

I started the week red hot by sweeping my four Nationals vs. Braves picks (Braves -1.5, Over 7, Chris Sale to record the win, Drake BaIdwin Over 0.5 RBI).

I’m all-in on Atlanta again today, and my Nationals vs. Braves best player prop bet doubles down with Bryce Elder to record the win.

The Braves enter today having won 10 consecutive games for the first time since June 2022, when they won 14 in a row. Atlanta’s run line is again my Nationals vs. Braves best bet, given the historic nature of its winning streak.

The Braves didn't commit an error in nine straight games before yesterday, score fewer than five runs, or allow more than five runs in any game in that span. They became the first team in MLB history to accomplish all of that over a nine-game span.

Atlanta batted .317 as a team while averaging 8 runs per game, belting 16 home runs, and pitching to a 2.84 ERA during the streak. It is getting contributions from everywhere, especially Drake Baldwin, who became the first rookie catcher with at least one extra-base hit and RBI in seven consecutive games.

The Braves should cruise with Bryce Elder on the mound. Elder has led the team to a 6-2 record in his last eight starts, with seven of those eight coming against teams who are in the playoff picture.

BetMGM and bet365 are currently the only best sports betting sites offering better than +108 odds to lay the 1.5 runs. With implied odds of 47.62%, a $10 winning wager at +110 odds would net $11 in profits.

💰 Best Nationals vs. Braves player prop bet

⬆️ Bryce Elder to record the win (+121) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This prop cashed easily on Monday when Atlanta raced out to an 8-2 lead, which saved southpaw Chris Sale from not having his best stuff.

The Braves have led after three innings in four of their last five games, and another early lead should go a long way in cashing this best Nationals vs. Braves player prop bet.

Elder has won three of his last four starts while holding two playoff teams (the Cubs twice and the Tigers) to one run in each.

The righty has been fantastic over the last month, pitching to a 2.63 ERA and .211 OBA. His 2.84 ERA in five career starts against the Nationals is his lowest against any opponent he has made at least three starts against, and should mitigate any doubts over his 6.81 ERA at Truist Park this season.

Atlanta has as high as a 65.99% implied probability to win the game outright through DraftKings’ -194 moneyline odds. Thus, getting Elder to record the win at plus-money odds is a steal and would net $12.10 on a winning $10 wager.

📊 Nationals vs. Braves odds: Sept. 24

Braves -1.5 (+106) -184 Over 9 (-118)
Nationals +1.5 (-128) +154 Under 9 (-104)

📈 Nationals vs. Braves betting odds analysis

After opening as the -190 moneyline betting favorite, DraftKings is the only one of the best sports betting apps where Atlanta’s moneyline odds increased.

There seems to be plenty of love for the Nationals as underdogs, as they have attracted 40% of the early action, so Atlanta’s odds should come down closer to first pitch as a result.

The total has remained firm at O/U 9, with the Over most commonly priced at -115 and the Under at -105. With the Over cashing in seven of Atlanta’s last eight day games, the total is much more likely to remain at 9 or increase to 9.5 than it is to fall.

How do baseball odds work?

When betting on MLB, the run line shows how many runs the favorite needs to win by in order to cash the bet. For example, a favorite of -1.5 must win by two or more runs to cover the run line, while an underdog at +1.5 must win outright or lose by one run to cover the run line.

Moneyline odds represent the payout for picking the outright winner (+200 means a $100 bet wins $200, while -200 means a $200 bet wins $100). Over/Unders let you wager on whether the combined total of runs will be higher or lower than the set number.
