Several players around Major League Baseball are closing in on key numbers or milestones throughout the final week of the regular season, and one such slugger is the focus of my best home run predictions today.

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor is one home run shy of a 30/30 season, and his career success over a large sample size against Chicago Cubs southpaw Matthew Boyd has me backing him to homer at great odds. Joining Lindor in my four-pack of MLB picks are Corbin Carroll, Jose Ramirez, and Eugenio Suarez.

Here is my favorite MLB home run bet today and analysis of why it leads my MLB home run predictions.

Lindor is in search of his second season of 30-plus home runs and 30 or more stolen bases. Should he hit one more home run before the season's end, he would join Bobby Witt Jr. as the only shortstops in MLB history to have two 30/30 seasons.

Lindor is the only Mets hitter with 10 or more career at-bats against Matthew Boyd. He is batting .361 off Boyd with two of his 13 hits going for home runs, which is why I am backing the leadoff man with three starts of confidence for my best home run prediction today.

New York’s offense as a whole has been struggling since June 13, averaging fewer than five runs per game while going 16 games under .500 in that stretch. But Lindor has not finished any calendar month this season with fewer than four home runs, so I expect him to match that and to add to his home run total of three in September with a dinger tonight.

Boyd has allowed at least one home run in six of his previous seven starts, and has allowed a .982 OPS to current Mets hitters in 62 combined at-bats. These 17.21% implied odds are enticing and would pay out $48.10 on a winning $10 wager if Lindor homers.
