The Demon Deacons suffered their worst loss of the season in Week 9 when they went to Louisville and fell 48-21 as 3-point favorites. They committed eight turnovers, six of which were quarterback Sam Hartman's fault.

Meanwhile, the Wolfpack managed to escape with a victory during their first game in 2022 without Devin Leary, narrowly defeating Virginia Tech 22-21. Backup quarterback MJ Morris played quite well, completing 69% of his pass attempts for 265 yards and three touchdowns.
