The Kansas State Wildcats come off one of the most impressive wins of the entire college football season. Without starting quarterback Adrian Martinez, they knocked off Oklahoma State 48-0. Martinez’s status this week is unknown, but backup Will Howard has been impressive in his absence, throwing for 521 yards, six touchdowns, and just one interception in almost two full games, both of those against top-10 opponents.

Meanwhile, the Longhorns had their bye week to analyze what went wrong in their 41-34 loss to Oklahoma State. Prior to that game, the Longhorns had won three in a row to get back into the Big 12 Championship Game hunt.

The consensus spread opened as a pick'em but now has the Longhorns favored by 2.5 points as of Saturday morning. While 52% of the tickets are backing Kansas State, 51% of the handle rides with Texas.

This could certainly be a letdown spot for the Wildcats as such a massive win could leave a costly hangover against a really good team. However, the Wildcats already seemed to learn from their mistake earlier this year. After defeating Missouri, they followed it up with a loss to Tulane. When they defeated Oklahoma the following week, there was no such hangover in their 37-28 win over Texas Tech.

This will be a very close game, but with Kansas State playing at home and with a chance to put themselves in control of their own Big 12 Championship destiny, they're the right play, even if they rely on their backup quarterback.

This is a tough line. Both teams score over 30 points per game, while the Longhorns allow 21.1 and the Wildcats give up 19.7. The Longhorns scored 30 or more points in five of their last six matchups. The one exception was against Iowa State, when they scored 24. The Cyclones allowed just 17.6 PPG this season.

Three of the last five Wildcats matchups have gone Over this number easily. Prior to last week’s beatdown of Oklahoma State, they allowed three of their previous four opponents to score at least four touchdowns.

Yet, the Longhorns have struggled against good defenses this season, and with how the Wildcats are playing, they should keep this one in the mid-40s rather than the low-50s.
