The Oklahoma Sooners (5-5) host the No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide (8-2) as they look to pull an upset and secure bowl eligibility.

It’s hard to ignore what the Crimson Tide have done in their last three games when making our Alabama vs. Oklahoma prediction. They’ve outscored their opponents 128-20, beating LSU 42-13 on the road and defeating Missouri 34-0 - they've been so impressive that they're -1000 by the College Football Playoff odds.

But can they cover a 13.5-point spread in Saturday night’s 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC) game at Memorial Stadium in Norman, Okla.?

The Sooners have lost four consecutive games against SEC opponents, and four of their five conference losses have been by at least 10 points. Our Week 13 college football predictions don't expect them to turn it around against Bama.

The first year in the SEC hasn’t been kind to the Sooners. They’re averaging just 21.3 points per game, 172.4 passing yards per game, and 116.8 rushing yards per game. Those offensive statistics rank 103rd, 116th, and 106th, respectively, in the nation.

So how will the offense come to life against a defense allowing just 18 points and 338.3 yards per game? They won’t.

The Crimson Tide haven’t allowed more than 25 points in any of their last five games. Over the last three weeks, they’ve held every opponent to fewer than 14 points.

Crimson Tide roll over Sooners’ defense

As if the offensive struggles for the Sooners weren’t bad enough, their defense has been a disaster as well. While they’re only allowing 22.8 points per game, they’ve allowed three of the last four SEC opponents they’ve faced to score 30 points against them, and in home SEC games, they’ve been outscored 94-27.

The Crimson Tide are averaging 38.1 points per game, which ranks sixth in the nation. With very little resistance, they should put up over 30 points in this game.

However, I’m only making this a three-star play, as the Sooners did mostly shut down the offenses of Ole Miss and Tennessee, and lost those games by fewer than 13 points.

Our C Jackson Cowart is also backing the Crimson Tide as part of his college football Week 13 expert picks.

Arnold has thrown for more than 200 yards in just two games this season.

One of those performances came against Maine two weeks ago, while the other came in a 35-9 loss to South Carolina. He has thrown for 182 yards or fewer in his other six games, and he’s thrown for fewer than 100 yards twice this season.

The Crimson Tide have the 34th-ranked pass defense in the nation. They’re allowing just 198.3 passing yards per game, and they’ve kept most of their opponents in check, despite playing with massive leads.

Arnold has been behind by multiple scores many times this season, but his season-high is just 225 yards. So even if his team trails by double digits for most of the game, he won’t be able to pick up easy yards against this defense.

FanDuel has this total set at 173.5, which is five yards less than the number that bet365 and Caesars are offering. Since bet365 is offering the best price of the two sportsbooks with the total set at 178.5, it's the place to wager.
