Unfortunately, this is not an April Fools joke for long-suffering New York Mets fans.
It's being reported that ace Jacob deGrom will be shut down for 4-weeks due to a stress reaction in his right scapula. He will then be re-evaluated, and his return date is unknown, according to multiple sources.

deGrom was scheduled to pitch Friday in his final tune-up of the spring but will now be held out as the team determines what's ailing him.
The news is shifting the Mets odds pretty significantly.

At FanDuel, the World Series odds went from +1100 on March 23 to +2000 Friday.
Caesars moved from +1100 March 23 to +1400 Friday.
BetMGM did not shift their odds from this morning after the news however.

Before succumbing to potential injury, deGrom was dominant in his two Grapefruit League starts. Striking out ten batters, allowing only one run in five innings.
While soreness isn't unusual this time of year, there's more concern as he didn't make any starts after July 7 last season due to a small tear in his ulnar collateral ligament - which is never good.
For now, the Mets will hope for the best, as losing deGrom would be a major blow to their rotation.
As of today, the Mets are one of the most significant liabilities at BetMGM, and if deGrom were to miss a substantial amount of time, it would have a ripple effect in the betting market.
