Rochus has a good history here. And doo doo brown might get by on his serve alone vs shit competition alone. Ram won it as a LL with just his serve..

Great thread Beefcake. Wagering on this tourney over the last few years has been dreadful to me even though I have been a few years. I actually found out I am able to get up there on Wednesday and have tickets for the south courts for some later matches this week and I am pretty excited even though the names are not that great and we have bad south stand seats.

Its like the clay court at Family circle in Charleston, at least there is sailing and hitting the bars,all of which are pretty good in Newport even if the names playing in this tourney look dreadful so it should be fun at least to attend.

It's a beautiful court with alot of history but I totally agree with beefcake, the tennis is really average at this tourney at best. My friend is going with me and he runs clinics so maybe he can help me out with wagering but I doubt it, we may hit some practice rounds and watch these guys but this is my second ATP/WTA tournament this year I have been to and it never really helps me wagering.

Its actually nice to be sober and looking at stats and hit the forums than tired from watching tennis all day and drinking, I just always hate the tv coverage of these american tourneys usually around the next two moths. Heehaww mentioned this should have tennis tv coverage so thats great.

One thing I wouldn't sleep on though is americans in this tourney and maybe some strange names winning this. If you look at the winners of this it is a pretty obscure bunch and like heehaww said it is a strange bounce surface, very low bounce and very different palying surface than most grass courts.

My friend played there and he hated it, it is an aesthetically beautiful court but a horrible surface to play on. He is 6.2 feet tall but some tall guys like Rusedski and Ram and Fish have won here, but it is not a typical tourney.

I saw a final with Greg Rusedski where he beat Spadea about 7 years ago. Let me state that name for you again.

I didn't go last year but I did have a future on Fish last year and he won it so dont count Isner out just yet but definitely look for young guys like Dimtrov and any Americans to try and do well.

American tennis is at an all time low and people are desperate to see an American win a title,any title. Sweeting, Bogomolov and Isner may do well here.

This court has a tons of history as well, This is the home of the international tennis hall of fame and tons of stuff going on this weekend. Just remember before you put anything more than a unit on these wagers, here is a quick look at all the champions of the last 10 years.

I believe they changed the surface after 2008 a little, so it's not quite as low bounce as it used to be - although still lower than the other grass events. Santoro winning in the past is very much the typical small guy with the slices that you'd expect to do well on this sort of surface, but clearly on grass a big blast server can also bang their way through rounds too.

Also possible to play at the net quite a bit here, that's how Ram won it. Bounces are not so reliable, and low bounce makes it much harder to execute passing shots.

I've thought both Sweeting and Young had a breakout tournament in them for a while now.

I don't think either has a good draw. Young lacks the consistency IMO to win five matches in a row unless it's a Challenger. Young would do well to win two here. Same for Sweeting who I am not sure sure even makes it out of the 1st round.

Those are great numbers . Sela has been killing it in the challengers circuit and short guys with shots like Rochus are tough at this tourney. Rochus was in the finals last year and could have easily won it and was in the semis the year before losing to Ram.

The main problem with capping this tourney is the trying to figure out the motivation factor for alot of these players to win this .
