I don't see the point of playing that match at all. Berlocq obviously has more experience on dirt and Raonic is due to majorly fatigue ... but I don't know if I trust Berlocq at -140 or so especially given that Raonic may still be able to simply serve and stay in matches.

Very surprised he is playing this week, do not think it's smart. He needs rest. Roddick was smart, he pulled out of the Delray Beach Event with Davis Cup coming up.

I'd never lay that much on a WTA match. She's certainly in good form, but all it takes is one turn of an ankle and a match can change like that. I think Pennetta will win, but WTA more so than ATP is the worst to lay large chalk in, especially on a single play.

DEUCE: TURSUNOV + NISHIKORI [+109]

Tursunov is in a solid run of form to start this year off as he continues to rebuild his ranking. He draws Granollers who does not play a ton of tennis on this outdoor hard surface and sports a poor record to boot. Tursunov won a Challenger on this surface and showed well on the quicker indoor surfaces the last two weeks. His serve gives him a big weapon that Granollers really cannot match. If Tursunov brings his serve consistently, he has shown the nerve needed to work through an opponent that does not favor this surface. Pair him with Nishikori. Nishikori holds the head-2-head advantage having beaten Dabul on an outdoor hard court last summer. Both guys showed ability on this surface on the Challenger circuit in 2010, but it's Nishikori who appears a bit better on this surface so far this season. Dabul is transitioning back from the indoor courts where he didn't embarass himself, but I THINK Nishikori gets the nod here playing near his home in Bradenton. This is a tournament he thrived at a few years ago and he should be eager to show his 2010 flameout to Becker is behind him.

WTA DOHA: PENG +125
Peng draws Kanepi in Doha on the outdoor surface. Kanepi has a good string of results in the last two tournaments, but she's been somewhat sloppy in doing so and it finally caught her against Jankovic. Peng meanwhile has continue her impressive showing on this surface that begin with the first tournament in Auckland and has not let up since. She made the quarters in Pattaya losing in three tough sets to Zvonareva and lost to Azarenka in a third set tie break last week in Dubai in the 2nd round to cover her last two tourneys. Peng has the bonus of getting time on-court here in qualis while Kanepi will acclimate on the fly. Looking at Kanepi's losses on this surface, she has two types of kryptonite - good returners and power players. Peng does not possess the power, but she is an athletic returner who will push Kanepi to make shots. Peng seems very comfortable with her game right now as she's been one of the steadiest on the WTA tour. If she plays with poise and precision, I THINK she'll have a shot.

Youzhny has the great record in Dubai and the great head-2-head vs. Simon. Yet something screams be careful. I'm going to avoid it, but I think Youzhny should advance but it might be a tough one.

Peng bet cancelled as Kanepi withdraws. Looks like someone talked some sense into Raonic as well. Wish I would have gone with my gut on Kohlschreiber like I did in our contest!

WTA DOHA: HANTUCHOVA +4.5 [-110]
I actually rate Hantuchova a decent shot of winning this outright vs. Azarenka today. Azarenka has not played her best tennis this year and her serve was in shambles last week with a ton of break points hanging in every match. Hantuchova played very well in Pattaya, winning the title and then predictably succumbing to fatigue in the next tournament. If Hantuchova can bring her game and confidence from the Pattaya tournament and Azarenka does not improve on-serve, there is a good shot that she can give her a very close match today.

Kanepi ended up withdrawing due to fever and was replaced by Bacsinszky. It must have been close to the last moment though because both of my books still had Kanepi up 30 minutes before the match was due to start. If you bet that, it'll be void I'm sure.

The terms lucky & loser, it's a juicy contradiction! That's what Kunitsyn is as he sneaks into the main draw after yesterday's reshuffling. He draws Dodig here and something is stuck in my lower intestine - Mexican food probably - that says Kunitsyn rates a shot here. These two met twice last year, splitting the matches with Dodig winning on an indoor surface and Kunitsyn on an outdoor hard court. That is the difference to me here. Dodig is stuck in the public eye from his showing on an indoor court in Zagreb. This outdoor surface though has not been nearly as kind to him. He beat Karlovic & dirt baller Daniel on this surface this year, but in general has not been convincing on the surface. Kunitsyn looked on his way into the main draw after smoking Matosevic 6-1 in the 1st set of their final quallifying match, but then surrendered 6-2, 6-3 to lose out. Still, he has match time under his belt in these conditions & has shown some ability on this surface in the past year. I wasn't overly impressed with Dodig last week in Memphis with his serve again showing some cracks. I THINK Dodig adjusting to the outdoor conditions could prove to give Kunitsyn some opportunities here, so if he can keep his own service game tighter .... maybe the Mexican food passes.

Damn even worse than the Ferrer one. Even though that one did not cash, Ferrer gave plenty of shots to Ungur to stick in that one. Cannot believe these juiced totals. Over 17 for tracking at +170.

Yeah that's why I went more conservative with the handicap although I think she has an excellent shot to win in a 3rd set with Azarenka's service game looking wonky.
