Clearly said Hewitt at his prime would have had the edge. Nishikori has always been plagued with injuries. We all have our own views. Best of luck for future bets as this is just one bet for me.

I wouldn't dare pulling trigger on Shvedova. I love her powerfull game, but the fact is that she is just to unreliable...
Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Serena would steamroll Azarenka tommorow. She is simply a beast. Sharapova played some great tennis today, but it was far from enough to ge close to Serena...

Jaksic ML. Big talent. Destroyed some poor girl yesterday as a 2,75 dog. She is obviously underrated and I remember that she had quite some succes on ITF tour last year.
Watson ML. Saw first set of her match against Cibulkova. Looked pretty solid, especially defensively, despite fast surface in Brisbane. On the other side, I like Mattek-Sands, but when she is not in super form, her risky game is not that productive and it seems to me that she is not in best form yet.
Maybe Hewitt with handicap. Why not. He seems to be hot and there is a guarantee you will get 100% effort anytime he is out there. Not to mention that he has a big crowd support and I just don't like how uninterested Nishikori looks on court.
Vesely+Devvarman double. Solid looking two players, against two jokesters like Dessein and Cippola at pretty nice looking odds.

Different matchup that's why. Against Sharapova she's not having her shots neautralised and she's playing against a player in Azarenka who can stay with her terms of movement from the baseline.

Only thing Serena beats azarenka in from the baseline is power and I suppose she's also a better counterpuncher. IMO the only other real significant difference is the serve and getting cheap points. Azarenka's return of serve is pretty good. (Although doesn't compare to Serena's)

With Sharapova, the movements awkward and rigid. Relies on getting the first strike in and if Serena hits a ball up high and deep, Sharapova can't maintain the balance of play, she feels she has to go for it, which she does lol because she can't contest Serena's movement from the back.

I hear what you are saying... But still, I feel like today isn't everything about the matchup. She simply doesn't look as "sharp" as yesterday...
Anyway, what do we have from the rest of the afternoon card. I am tempted to take Pospisil +3,5 or the over. Watched Stan yesterday and part of the match against Becker. He didn't really cared about constructing points wisely, but has simply managed to out-shot both opponents, with his much much better shot-making abilitiy... That might be enough against those two mugs, but against Pospisil, I am not that sure. What is your take on this one?

Monfils to beat Rafael Nadal @3.00 with Pinnacle (Using 3 units)

Monfils is probably in the top 5 for athletism in the men's game. The one thing he lacks however is fitness, the fitness to continuously execute his game at around the highest level to compete with top 8 or so player's in the world. However it's the start of the season and he is fully fit and fresh.

With this athletism comes counterpunching brilliance and shotmaking of the highest calibre. The athletism allows him to stay with Rafa from the baseline and if he has any brain, avoid the blokes hugely heavy whipped forehand. The court's are fairly slow, so this matchup will come down to how often Monfils can avoid hitting it into the Rafa forehand or allowing Rafa to get his forehand into practise and thus dictate the matters in proceedings. Rafa's game centers around his forehand and without it, he is drastically less of a player.

I believe Monfils has a better backhand than Rafa, one that can do more damage on a consisent basis and so for Rafa to attack either wing of Monfils's, he's unlikely to get many "shallow" balls with Monfils in this form. Counter aggressively Monfils can do all sorts of damage off both the forehand and backhand wing and Rafa is more limited to counter aggressiveness on the forehand side. If they're rallying backhand to backhand, I'm sure Monfils in this form would be the one to prevail.

I think at the end of it all it will be the serve that gets Monfils over the line and the famous victory in this one. He just has that amazing knack of when inspired to produce those big bombs. Rafa is clutch on serve also, however doesn't have the pounding flat serve to win him points down the T. IMO Monfils has the athletism and movement to get the lefty Rafa serve that outswings wide after kicking up, because he has those magic limbs, ala Djokovic. You only beat Nadal if you put in an amazing service performance. Ask Rosol, ask Darcis, ask whoever has beaten him.

Chardy served exceptionally and smartly too, ala del potro us open. Federer looked better than he had done at any point after the aussie open last season and I was extremely impressed with Federer against Nieminen. His forehand looks to have more bite on it again. He's using the whipped forehand more, which has always... been in his .... arsenal.

The backhand produced less shanks but then again, Chardy doesn't give you many balls to hitas rallies are short, so he didn't have a proper backhand workout. Still had errors off it ofcourse. Nothing spectacular from Roger, better than almost any part of last year but still not that great. Served well, on big points.

Chardy's forehand was on as well. We all know the frenchman is a hit or miss player and can be trouble for anyone, when he's firing. Requires some serious Djokovic/Murray/Nadal "movement" to deal with his forehand and keep rallies alive. Federer doesn't have that, not defensively equipped enough with. So chardy was able to win a set. It is true to say Chardy imploded to lose the second set though and get broken at 4-3........

I am currently contemplating the Hewitt win, as I feel he is currently closer to where he was back in 2003-2007 than Federer is and even back then, Federer would need 4 sets or 5 sets in grandslams to oust him. Hewitt's an intelligent player, so I don't feel he'll be undone by any variety and Federer no long has, no longer has the confidence and lack of doubt within side himself to play with as much flair and creaitivity as he used to, on the big moments and big points.
