When I am bored and have some free time(not much with 10 month old), I just browse past brackets from all the challengers from the past.I have noticed that unseeded players from the hosting country do well.Have seen tons outright win the tourneys.Anyone think it might be worth it to go back and see what the record of these would be?Now I would only count when unseeded from host country are playing folks from outside the host, and No Wildcards, qua-lies,lucky losers..etc..Just your ordinary Joes who have the ranking and points to get in without an exemption. My theory is that hypothetically the home country guys have the added intangible of playing at home but are not random stiffs that get wildcards or bust their ass trying to qualify.I mean in college football and the NFL usually the odds makers give 3-4 points to the home team with the line.My theory is that if this is true for these challenger players as slight faves, slight dogs or even an added advantage over the price.over a long term would be able to grind out a profit.
Obviously some players would be favored and some would be dogs. But have to think that the favs would not be too high juiced. Many of around -200 or so.Many times the books makes these match ups with middle of the road guys that are not great, but good enough to make main draw fields in the challengers a close to 50/50 bet.
Thoughts?
