This result would not have surprised me a month or two ago, but he was in great form in recent matches. I watched 3 of his last 4 matches, and he was hitting a powerful forehand and serving well. His movement was good. I just don't get why he would play so horribly, but perhaps he had a few too many pops last night ... Or maybe he's just fat and happy after a productive three-week span, and he decided, "I'm just going to go through the motions and get ready to have my ass handed to me during hard-court season."

Seems like betting two dogs and hoping for a split is one of the most effective strategies for me in gambling. I should utilize it more often.

I would pass. @ 1.37 and @ 3.75 respectively I think the odds are more or less spot on in that match. It's easy to underestimate Thiem, and Montanes can turn from gold to shit just like that. He was fantastic against Monfils though...

My opinion, FWIW, is that this isn't a match that you use to chase a loss. It's Crazy Montanes vs. a 19-year-old playing in his home country.
For me, it's a small lottery ticket wager on Thiem to win outright 2-0
