    Bill,
I have to disagree with you here.

There needs to be some sort of common-sense standard when grading these things and it would have been a mistake if they graded Cleveland to be the winner.

I say this even though I would have made about $2,500 more if WSEX graded Cleveland to be the winner.

The only person who deserves some sort of compensation is the guy who called into WSEX asking specifically about the sign and trade and was told Cleveland would be the winner. He deserves to have 100% of his losses refunded to him by WSEX assuming there is some sort of record of his phone call (they normally record most phone conversations).

Everyone who bet on this thing knew they were betting on which team Lebron will play with next season.

2 totally independent companies (Intrade and WSEX) who worded the bet "who will Lebron James sign with" saw it the same way. Technically, Lebron James is going to sign with Miami and there wasn't any mention on who will Lebron James sign with FIRST.

False. Intrade (correctly) graded Lebron.Miami the winner.

the odds at wsex were -150 miami simultaneously were -500 at 5 dimes so i think people were capping a possible sign and trade, it was not a given Lebron would leave via sign and trade.

    andywend,

Could you explain what Lebron signed with Miami? Last I checked its a "sign and trade" not a "trade and sign".

5 dimes line means nothing because it wasn't a 2-way market. They just juiced the heck outta the thing. WSEX line was similar to Matchbook and Intrade markets. I don't think anyone was capping a sign-and-trade there, except maybe for the one guy who inquired.

Notice it's a sign-AND-trade, not a signed then trade. It's a one transaction situation. It's also considered an atomic transaction in that there was no way that Lebron could be stuck with Cleveland. Lebron is now contractually bound with Miami, not Cleveland.

What was the exact wording of the prop?

So they should both be winners? There is no way he actually signed anything with Miami though, so its impossible for that to be the answer on who he signed with.

What this thread can conclude is that it's a badly worded prop, in that numerous experienced players can't even agree on how it should be graded. I would say WSEX should absorb the loss given it's a smallish market, and a few years ago I guess they would have, but I suppose their current financial situation may well not allow them to.

Either way it will be interesting to see what they do, but I'm not sure it should set a precedent other than to be more careful with prop wording in future.

I would argue the above statement. WSEX has not paid off on anything lately.

WSEX refunded both players stake amounts for the complaints reported to SBR, but unfortunately is not yet willing (or able) to pay the winnings. Regardless of players being happy to be flush when they were in the hole, this was handled poorly by WSEX and is unfair.

If any other poster had their bet on Cleveland graded as a loss, write to help@sportsbookreview.com and we will follow up.

So I guess the check I received in June wasn't from WSEX?
