Thanks Tommy...I hope that they do, the problem is that they were supposed to give me 40K and only gave me 25K saying that "there was an issue with the contest provider", etc. What a hassle.

No...they are full of it....our pool was 80k as well but it was split by a handful of people....I asked for a wire and it was deposited BACK into my account due to the "processor"...They put a "priority" on the instant deposit request I made and they are beyond the 5 to 7 days to process that as well. I have asked them to overnight a check to avoid the "processor" issues but they won't respond to that question.
Be patient, but be glad we are asking BEFORE the Superbowl as many casino/sportbooks are inundated with folks trying to cash out if they do not play basketball.

Well this makes me want to quit dealing with offshore people all together and just go with a local guy or start taking best myself. Everyone is so dishonest and shady these days it is ridiculous.

You got 25K for a 25 dollar investment in an extremely simple contest. And you're complaining about offshore?

Just for comparison. $1500 buy-in, LV Hilton Supercontest. 5 NFL picks a week. Top ten this year:

                        Top Winners for 2010-2011 Contest
                        1st Place- Richard Stand $207,000
                        2nd Place- Wisky $82,800
                        3rd Place- Inspin.com $33,637.50
                        4th Place- Azzurri99 $33,637.50
5th Place- Al The Sly $18,112.50
                        6th Place- Rufus T. Firefly $18,112.50
                        7th Place- Mr Ego $18,112.50
                        8th Place- Peaches Picks $18,112.50
                        9th Place- Vegasportsline.com $18,112.50
                        10th Place- Dantastiko $7,762.50
                        (*5 way tie for 10th)

What you got for your 25 bucks is far more than what these guys got. In fact, at 1/60th of the buy-in, your winnings would translate to $3450 if you had won the Hilton. Instead, you got 1000x your buy-in, which would be 1.5 million in Hilton money.

                        Still complaining about offshore integrity?

I believe it's not how mach you invest ,it is about integrity of the game .
If you make $5 dollar parley and win 5K but your book pay you $300, instead of $5K and then tells you look buddy you invested only $5 .Does it sounds reasonable ?

Yea I am still arguing integrity. When someone runs a promtion for 80K and you are owed 40K and you only get $25K...yea i think there is an issue there. If you dont intend on paying what you advertise, than dont advertise it and run it then.

Obviously Dark Horse, $15K doesnt mean that much to you but to me, it means alot.

I brought up the LV example (the Cadillac of NFL contests), because the OP was making the case that offshore was extremely shady. That's all.

I certainly hope he gets paid every penny. But if he ends up with 25K, that would still be a very good deal. Compared to the Hilton. And considering the rating of the book.

How is it a good deal when they steal 15k from him? You sound like sbrjohn. They could have given him nothing.

The Hilton isn't a comparable contest.

Topic of the other thread. So far there is no clear documentation that they promised to pay out 80K, and according to them are forking out nearly 25K to pay both winners (based on buy-ins). Before jumping to conclusions, let's see if the prize money was related to the buy-ins. There are plenty of contests where a number is thrown out, by way of advertising, without that being a direct promise. When a D- book promises me a 100K for first prize I may take that with a grain of salt.

I already addressed why I brought up the Hilton. You really want to split hairs over this stuff with me?

Then dont run the promotion if they are gonna wine and cry when someone actually wins the thing...they said 80K, quit trying to twist things around like they are the goddamn good guys in this. If you say and put on your website that there is a 80K contest and it cost $25 to enter, when you win you expect to be paid what is rightfully won. It is as cut and dry as that. I dont give a shit if it is costing them $25K by honoring the contest, that is what they set themselves up with so man up and do the right thing. Sounds like YOU work for them

And how am i supposed to "provide documenttaion"?? take a picture of their website?

So far all we have is your word. That's where it stands now. I'm sure it isn't hard to prove what the original contest description said. But yes, people in their right minds would have to know that before coming to an informed decision. Believe it or not, your word alone is not good enough. Just crazy, isn't it?

Screen shots are good. There are ways to find old pages as well, but don't ask me about that.

Dark horse...whatever...playersonly.com (sister company) had same deal...NFL survivor pool that was originally 50k but they increased the pool to 80k due to overwhelming demand...My calcs had them pulling in nearly 125k on this based on entry fee, sliding scale, number of entries, etc.
I shared with a handful of others and have yet to get paid. I believe this guy as it seems the same as my situation. I guess since we had so many people they didn't try the switch and bait BS. I just can't get paid for over 3 weeks.

Well here is the managers response to my email from monday:

                                                    Mr. Jones,

Thank you for your email, let me explain.

There were a lot of issues and things that occurred without management's consent and some others things and rules that should have been enforced during the 17 weeks this particular contest lasted.

                                                    1. Management never approved the motion to raise the grand prize from $50.000,00 to $80.000,00, this happened without our consent and as result of an error. Our sister company Sportsbook.com raised their grand prize from $50k to $80k after receiving enough entries to cover for such amount. Our site was updated by mistake as well when they updated theirs. Our intention as a company was not to profit from this contest, it was simply to offer our clients an added value.

                                                    2. The number of entries was fully disclosed on the website for the whole tournament as 1,118 which means the total entry pool was $27,950. We are losing $22,050 in paying out $50,000 in prize money. The contest was run by Sports.com on behalf of the customers and if the entry pool increased above $50k it was our intention as stated in the rules that we would increase the prize pool accordingly. It was not our intention to make money on this contest. Likewise, it was not our intention to lose money running this contest, none the less, we are paying both the winners a total of $50,000.00

We were not acting in bad faith or with the intention to change the outcome of this contest in the last minute affecting those that participated, but management has made its final decision on this issue and will honor the contest as it was originally conceived, without the prize adjustment, which is something that clearly doesn’t make any sense if you only had 1118 entries at the time.

Please feel free to reply to this e-mail if you have any additional questions in relation to this, or any other matter.

I would assume it is the same company doing customer service as I believe both websites are owned by Jazette Enterprises Limited out of Costa Rica but operated by Jassy Sprts Events Limited based in Malta. I am trying to determine if they are licensed in Antilles or Antigua under license # c40972. Let me know if you find out anything. Good luck.

Collect the $25k quickly and then file a complaint. You have a great case, but I wouldn't jeopardize your chances of collecting 25 grand by pissing off a D- Book. Get that money wired into your account and then go after the other $15k.

Sounds like poor communication between Sportsbook.com and Sports.com. Did each book have a separate contest (with a winner at each book), or was this one contest? If it was the same contest, then it sounds like Sportsbook.com -with far more entries- is not willing to cover the difference for Sports.com.

Sports.com didn't even collect 30K in entry fees and are willing to pay 50K, per the original contest. Sportsbook.com is bigger, had more entries, and could increase prize money from 50K to 80K.

So the question is: why would Sports.com increase to 80K if they never covered the original 50K?

And the other question is: is this a problem between Sports.com and contest winner, or between Sportsbook.com and Sports.com? If Sportsbook.com increased the prize money over the heads of Sports.com, which seems to be what the latter indicates, does that mean that Sportsbook.com is on the hook for the additional 30K?

(This is probably all just academics, since these books have terrible ratings).
