I'm assuming you are being sarcastic but I'll bite anyway:

Not being sarcastic in the least bit sir. Trying to convince you is pointless on this forum so I will not even waste either of our time. You certainly have the right to believe however you see fit and I choose to serve the Lord.

I agree that trying to convince me is pointless. And I'm also aware of the fact that I will never convince you. But would you at least agree that the DOZENS of the Bible contradictions presented in the video above you are at least somewhat valid? I'm guessing you didn't even watch the video. Most Christians I know have absolutely no interest in the truth or anything that contradicts what they already believe. And that's fine... but that's not how I choose to live. To me.. the TRUTH is everything. If I'm wrong about something(and I'm wrong quite often) I want people to show me how I'm wrong. And when they do.. I thank them for it. But for someone to believe in something just because it was shoved down their throat since they were a child... or just because a particular belief makes them happy or optimistic... well... I look at things a bit differently. Sometimes the truth is UGLY. But to me.. a Christian God that allows children to suffer on a daily basis is even uglier.

I go every weekend and have for years. My closest friends were found at church.

Yeah, I've watched quite a few episodes of it on YouTube and I do like it. I have a ton of respect for Matt Dillahunty as well as the rest of the crew. Matt knows the Bible better than any Christian I've ever met. It's sort of ironic that the more a person reads the Bible the more likely they are to become an Atheist. I live in the deep south and it shocks me how little the Christians here actually know about the Bible. Even the ones that knock on my door to try to get me to go to their Church are usually completely clueless. Most of them are nice enough though and I usually just tell them "I'm not religious" as politely as I can. Its funny because.. I'm pretty sure that they feel sorry for me. But I actually feel sorry for them. It sort of makes me think of two 2nd graders arguing about Santa... one is sure that Santa is real. The other thinks Santa is not real. There are benefits to believing in either side I suppose. I just want to know what side is true.

Yeah, I do not usually even attempt to debate religious people anymore (although I wish that when I do, the people from Atheist Experience could do my arguing for me; they are so good at articulating points). I estimate the likelihood of me changing their minds is comparable to the likelihood of the Bible being historically accurate. I have found it is much easier to convert people to libertarianism. So I guess I am counting that as my way of positively influencing the people around me .
