Yes. It is true. I don't have all of the physiological and psychological stuff that's going on memorized, but it is true.

Make sure you fill that void with other things, so you don't miss the drinking so much.

Most definitely. Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant anyway, so technically it was always depressing you, you just never realized it because of the additional effects that alcohol brings on.

You are only down because you have nothing else to do with your life to fill the drinking void.

Fix that and you won't even want to drink every night anymore.

Yea, this can happen with alcohol and / or other drugs. It happens with alcohol, which is a depressant, benzodiazapines (sp.) ex. xanax, also stimulants coming down from coke for example, ecstacy.. When you recognize what's causing you to feel low you will feel a little better, if you are able to cut down you will begin feeling better

Only time I ever felt depressed from stopping something for too long was weed back like sophomore year of college.....Working out and treating yourself to something you like to eat or do after should work well

Working out or exercising hard will naturally make you feel 100x better about yourself

When I finally quit, I felt nervous and pissed, always on edge. I was a real asshole to be around for a little over a month. I actually chased a guy down in Lummus park because he made a smart ass remark after running into me, also kicked the shit out of a cab car that ran me off the road on my bike, and nearly broke my hand in an altercation with a drunken idiot.

It gets better with time, your nervous system adapts and sobreity ultimately becomes a much more stress free, productive way to function. I have seen guys in rehabs literally have to be strapped down in bed and can't leave their rooms for days due to the initial shock of withdrawing from alcohol, it is one of the few drugs you can die from while detoxing.

People drink to forget. So if you start remembering what you were trying to forget, yeah.

Yes, particularly if you have something to be depressed about. I drank ten shots every night and it was brutal when I quit.

Exercise is good, try and replace drinking with working out. If things don't pick up and you're not opposed to pharmaceuticals, get a script for an anti-depressant.

                                Stay off the booze.

I started feeling great when I suddenly stopped drinking.

If you're having withdrawal symptoms or a hard time, caffeine worked best for me, especially red bull.
