Lol they have the Curry Up truck here. My truck has food everyone wants but no one at least in my area has started a truck with that idea.

JJ...the good trucks in my area rake in 15-20K in profit biweekly/monthly depending on your traveling night and day

I think food trucks are moneymakers IF you have a really good product...also keep the menu small and perfect the those items rather than having an assortment of garbage. Use fresh products everyday, no leftovers...people will pay and travel for good food!

Best times for food trucks are Friday 8pm-4am and Saturday 8pm-4am. Enjoy not having a life.

Here in the bay area its a law if you have a food truck it must be cleaned daily, food brought in fresh daily, and the truck parked overnight in a secure parking lot for other food trucks. Pretty good area for this business

Hels the owners only stay there for about the first month. After that they have a trained manager and usually 5-6 rotating hands. This is where you can franchise the food truck.

Friend in Vegas just started a Sno Cone truck this summer and is doing ok. They're now offering chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches (made upon order), margins are amazing.

Startup costs were ~$25K which included truck, fabrication, necessary repairs, wrap, inspection and licenses, supplies. Marketing has been grassroots, they've been lucky to land some private events and attend all the local public events too.

They went into the venture with partners, but bought them out about a month into it after the partners weren't holding up their end. Overall, they're doing better but it's a tougher gig than expected. Lots of hustle and they haven't been successful in hiring part-time workers, he and/or his wife are always on the shifts.

It's a tough venture unless you REALLY love the work and can set yourself apart. What state are you in is key also....here in Texas the industry has taken off and its insane all of the hoops to jump through, even Austin vs Houston markets. Know a few of the vendors and its not as high margin low effort as most think.

Depending on which items you sell you have to sometimes go only through state approved commissaries supply the products or you have to upgrade equipment to keep up with the newest health standards.

Good luck - might wanna wait til next season to jump in though a bit late in the game for a new upstart now.
