I think one can argue that AMC might be the best or in the top three producing great
drama. Last 5 or 6 years this network has created some really fabulous shows. It seems to me almost every one they attempt has a huge following. It is amazing that just a few short decades ago they only did old movies. What a quantum change.

American TV is usually pretty shitty. Kudos to AMC

Breaking Bad, Hell on Wheels, Mad Men and a couple more.

Putting together the trans contential railroad and the history involved with it. It starts again, very soon. Also the first season I believe is now available "on demand" with directv,

Yes, first 10 episodes available now. If you have directv they will come and set up demand for you for free I believe. That may be only if you have the protection package, not sure. But, a call would settle it. You should get ondemand if you have directv. Free shows, thousands of them.

Deadwood kicked ass..HBO also cancelled a badass show called 'Carnivale' after 2 seasons.

Never saw deadwood, heard it was good though. Hell on Wheels, being a western fan this satisfies that every week

Deadwood set in western theme too, both really good. I think I might have to give it to deadwood though in a close battle. Sophisticated dialogue you might need a thesaurus.

I have this forum to thank for turning me on to Breaking Bad a year ago.
So hard to believe I was oblivious to this show that was running away with Emmeys every year.
I've downloaded every episode and watched them multiple times, which is huge for me.
                        New season just started.
Heard great things about Boardwalk Empire, although not much of a period piece fan.

BE is very good. Breaking bad is fabulous.

Unlike you a period piece has great advantage for me because of my love of history. All my favorite movies were period piece. Well most at least.

The Killing is awesome, didn't pick up the first season till it was halfway in, so I waited and watched the whole thing in about 2 days once the full season was released. 2nd season was probably even better than first, who knows where it goes from here though..haven't heard anything about a 3rd season. would be a shame. holder is a BAMF

I prefer period pieces if they're done right and try to get the history right. Boarwalk Empire is cool. A little slow.

Forbrydelsen is the name of the original Danish show "the killing," I almost always like the way the Danish produce TV and movies. I think I will attempt to watch this.
