While certainly a fan of ribaldry, I likewise have a place in the the ol heart for good old-fashioned wholesomeness.

A wholesomeness that is sadly lacking in today's culture.

The Andy Griffith Show embodied that trait... and leaving this world with that on your resume is a pretty damn good thing, IMHO.

What a wonderful show. Been watching a bunch of episodes the past couple days. TV Land is playing a Maybery Marathon.

I was just saying to my wife that this is how tv was meant to be. You could watch this with your kids & family, and not worry that something was going to happen that you would have to explain to your 5 year old. I never realized it before, but every show had a great message behind it. That was part of the deal.

Instead, nowadays kids are bombarded with shit like Teen Mom or My Blingest Sweet Sixteen. Total trash. All the sorry ass scumbags running tv today only care about pushing the shock value. No thought is given to the example their setting for these kids that watch their programs and pay their salaries.

It's disappointing. I miss Andy Griffith. In more ways than one.

There used to be some good shows from my generation. Boy Meets World... The Wonder Years even though that was a decade before my time.

I've gotten to the point now where the only current programming I watch is sports and the news. The TV/Movie industry has pretty much crossed that proverbial line in my opinion. Its amazing how many movies from the 60's to 80's that I missed that weren't actually that bad. I'm content in my little bubble.

A rep for Twiford Funeral Homes in Manteo, North Carolina tells us, Andy was buried at 11:30 AM on his family farm on Roanoke Island. We're told Andy had previously requested to be buried immediately after his death ... so that's why it all happened so fast.

We made calls to find out if Andy was embalmed. No one was talking, but we're told it's legal in North Carolina to bury people without embalming them.

We're told Andy's burial followed a small, private service with close friends and family in attendance.
