It is reasonable to compare Stern's salary to an elite NBA/MLB/NFL player. They are paid a market rate, just like everyone in this semi-capitalist society. Their employer makes more than they do - just like anyone else who works for an employer.

Also, Stern is truly at an elite level. Whether you like him or not, or used to like him and think he stinks now, he clearly worked his ass off with a vision, and invented a new genre of radio/television. He is also an excellent interviewer.

Nate Turner - I wouldn't argue that he is the best in the world at what he does currently, but at his peak he arguably was the best. Like many pro athletes, he is in effect being compensated highly now for his peak performance years ago.

His politics are and always have been suspect - but that is not what he is marketing on his show.

Howard i think was paid by sirius that much because of his past radio History.I was a huge Howard fan back in the late 80's and 90'S.Remember this was before Internet,Sat tv,cell phone ect those late 90's early 2000s with Jackie Martling, and Billy West were great and outstanding shows.Then the whole gag order with Opie and Anthony started and plus i invented everything rants everyday and the refusal to pay Jackie and Billy he became a joke to me.I Tried again to listen to him on Siruis the day i did he was railing Jay Leno who im a huge fan of so i stopped listining all together.He always said he was going to quit radio when his contract was up that was 99.Since then he signed on for 4 more years with krock then 5 years 500 million and 4 years 450 million with sirius with 2 days off a week and at least 12 weeks vacation time not to mention another 20 million from America's Got Talent.Stern is by far is way overpaid more then any actor or sports player.But he is still loved immensly in New York and still has a huge fan base that is why Cowell signed him.

This is an incredibly funny segment, with Billy West as Marge Schott. Now remember, this was on REGULAR RADIO-----not Satellite Radio, this was pushing the envelope to the extreme.
