    Philly Cheese Steak
Okay, I reside in PA so I will defend PA food. However, I don't get the Philly Cheese Steak. Don't live in the Philly area but I have had that cheese steak more than just a couple times and every time I am thinking--I don't get it. They just are not good.
What am I missing. Tell me because I don't know. I have tried them at some of the better name places.

So we have the basic chipped steak usually from a decent meat, even sometimes if it is just the cheaper steak it is still okay. Grilled onions-great. Cooked in olive oil and butter great too. Or just olive oil or butter. Finished on the grill with the onions and maybe some Italian peppers with a few hot tossed in great. Grilled bun wonderful.
But that shitt orange fake cheese ruins everything. WTF with that garbage

Finish it off with some melted mozzarella and dripping with grease and that is a fabulous hoagie or whatever you want to to call it. Tell me why I am wrong?

Amen Dante. That shitty Cheese Wiz sucks balls.

There are a few good steak places in Philly----Roxborough----Dellasandro's and Chubby's that use actual cheese and they are much better than Pat's or Geno's. I don't get the Cheese Wiz nonsense either.

MB I believe Pat's and Geno's might have been the place. I think one of them had a sign that read something like this, we will gladly take your order if you speak it in English--or something like that. lol

Now that I am on the subject, I don't get Old Forge Pizza either. Not good. If you are in NE Pa try Kings in Mountain Top Route 309, or Booty's in Hazleton and order square with Roman. Out of this world good.

Mozzerella cheese is where you went wrong. Kraft cheeze whiz only or american or provologne. Onions a must, also make sure its a soft italian roll. Best sandwich in the world.

Only type of cheeze whiz can be kraft, im just sayin mozzeralla on it is probabaly why it didnt taste good. American and provologne is good too but mozzeralla ive never heard of anyone getting. Also if you had it up in NEPA than its not the same as in the city

No whiz. Provolone only or its not the real thing. Never heard of mozza. Whiz is for tourists. NEPA doesn't have good ones.

Go to Jim's Steaks. has to be Amoroso's rolls also. Onions are std, but I don't get them. With Pizza sauce is delicious.

You can get some pretty good Italian in NEPA. A bunch of small cities and towns here that were predominately Italian, Irish and Eastern European. A few settled by mostly Italian families and Italian sections still prevalent in some.

Dante, I made it to Scranton's Italian Festival over Labor Day weekend last year. That was some good food. We were only there for a few hours, but it was worth it.

i've had one with whiz from pat's and i agree with what most have said. was with a local who swore by the whiz.

i thought it sucked but didn't really know the dude at all so i had to be like "yeah, sure..." like when michael bolton in office space had to act like he liked michael bolton the singer's music to the bobs.

i've always gotten provolone, btw. there used to be a cheesesteak place here that was really good, started by philly transplants, but it sadly went under about a year ago. haven't had a good cheesesteak in awhile.

I see people in here talking about American "cheese", and cheese whiz like its not 2012 and they are unaware that that garbage was made in a laboratory. Its not from a cow, rather some scientist figured out an extremely cheap way for fast food joints to produce cost efficient "cheese".

I prefer cheddar or mozzarella on mine.

I know exactly what it is, but cheese whiz tastes the best to me on cheesesteaks and I know I'm eating some bullshit, Fukk it.......Cheddar and mozz are good too man, Can't really go wrong to be honest

I mostly eat healthy/fresh as much as possible, but just something about the whiz hits the spot

New Italian restaurant in NE Pa just opened. Alfredo's on US 309 just outside Hazleton, PA. Owned by Italians still with accent so new immigrants most likely. Ordered a steak hoagie with peppers, onions and mozzarella. Waited 30 minutes longer than told, jam packed, couldn't get a parking place. Just eating the sandwich now and it is excellent, just enough grease, just enough hot and beautifully melted cheese on a really good bun. If you are traveling through you should stop.
