Pretty sure snapping somebody's picture is not illegal.

Is it awkward? Socially frowned upon? Perhaps. But Dad and I are skilled at this and we don't plan on getting caught. And even if we do, at worst they're gonna call you an a-hole or whatever. We are fighters for the cause and we can easily live with that for the greater good!

Dude, come ON! Taking someone's picture??? There is ABSOLUTELY no way it's illegal. Only would be illegal if you trespassed onto their property to do it!!

Trespassing? Sure. Groping? Yup. Assaulting? Duh. Taking a fukkin picture? No way.

Thanks, Smokie, I know you are. That's funny about the pics without consent -- on that you may be right, but it makes absolutely ZERO difference, because the odds that some random chick is EVER going to be on SBR and be like Hey, there I am, is so infinitesmally small that I really don't think we should worry about it.

But like could you imagine if the girls in that thread of the guy who scores tons of chicks (forget the poster's name) ever knew of that thread and saw themselves? That'd be pretty f'd up!

Public Places are Fair Game, Almost

Generally, it's perfectly legal to videotape or photograph any person and anything while on public property, except:

• You can't take pictures of areas that are usually considered private such as bedrooms, bathrooms, changing rooms, locker rooms, hotel rooms and so on
• Certain public places have banned the use of cameras such as mass transit systems, courthouses, capital buildings, secured government buildings, jails or prisons unless you obtain written permission
• You can't film or photograph if it interferes with police, fire, medical or emergency operations

Does the photo subject expect privacy?

Even on public property, you can’t photograph somebody who has a “reasonable expectation of privacy.” Basically, that means you can’t snap shots of people in the bathroom, a dressing room, or similar places. Ask yourself: “Would the average person expect privacy?” If so, don’t take a photo.
Along the same lines, don’t sneak photographs of people from bizarre angles. In essence, you can’t go around taking “up skirt” photographs. Even if you’re on the public sidewalk.

You can photograph people in public places without consent. There are exceptions, though. If subjects have a reasonable expectation of privacy, don't photograph them. For example, don't photograph someone in a restroom or locker room.

My view out of my new apartment isn't quite as nice as that one, but you can see Soldier Field if you strain your eyes and see the lake if you look the other way.

It's easy: phone on SILENT, flash OFF. Once you've got those things covered, you could be doing anything on your phone and no reason anyone would think you're taking a photo of the chick in front of you. I also try to make sure nobody really notices what I'm doing. You gotta do it pretty quick, not like moving the phone all around to find the right angle, holding it way out in front of you, etc.!

But in any event, I *am* some kind of creep.

Another good trick is to hold the phone to your ear like you are talking to somebody. Nobody has a clue what you are doing, you are just another guy talking on his phone. This works better when you are doing a video, then do a screen capture from the video.
